Retired and no kids left at home. That means we can spend money on what ever we want. Not on what we need for one of our children. All of our children are adults now. That feels so good not to have to save back for children anymore. So now we buy ice cream once a month. We have some other type of treat once a month. We make sure we have bacon each week. And of course my favorite meal once a week. Pork spare ribs. We buy watermelon, bing cherries in the summer to. No matter the cost. We can buy what we want now and go where we want now. Life is good when you are retired.

Life is good when you are retired, but aging is not good.

I don´t have a very good retirement pension. But as I almost don´t spend any money in clothes, I often buy delicious things to eat. My treats are a cake, some nice cheeses and a bit of salami. And although I eat less meat than I used to, I buy the best when I want some.

@jstory07 I agree. And I´m glad that I am not interested in clothes or any other material things. But I do like to treat my friends with nice things to eat.

Yes. We have decided since we can't leave our money to family...no kids and all the rest have passed away except for cousins...that we will get things fixed around the house and spend when we want to spend. Yes, life is good. Now if our health was just better. Have a good day. What kind of birds are those?

@jstory07 We may also postpone the retirement age here in the future, Currently, girls retire at the age of 55 and boys retire at the age of 60

My dad was very happy when his daughters were out of the house. He hasn’t retired yet, but he doesn’t want to even if he could. I don’t particularly understand that, but then he has a love for people. Bing cherries are a luxury I would love to have! They are such delights. And, I’m glad you have the freedom to do what you want. You deserve it, pretty lady!

After working for 40 plus years at the same job I am glad to be retired. We have time for us. I do not know how I did everything when we were both working.

@jstory07 Oh yes, both working must have been very tough. My dad’s wife IS retired. Marrying my dad allowed for her to retire 3 years earlier than she planned.

I think so too. After I cleared my home loans, it felt like a huge boulder had been lifted off my shoulder. I of course don't have kids, but my father is more than handful. LOL. He caused me decent losses post his retirement and mine too. Added to that is the fact that I don't have kids, am too old to be traveling up and down courts, and have the responsibility of my father. These factors make it easy for others to become belligerent with me. Recently one of the former tenants tried to usurp my property and took away a decent amount. If dad was not down, I would have run around courts. As to indulging self, I indulge me about twice each week. I am lucky I prepared for medical insurance in time. So today, my father has a decent coverage, and so do I. I now need to provide for out of pocket medical expenses. Once that is done, only building repairs. Life goes on. LOL

I am on a very tight budget and order groceries online once a week, With the tropical summer weather in Florida my next month's order might just include ice cream, puddings, yogurts, Jello and watermelon because nothing hot seems appealing any more,
