Imminent Revolution in Kenya?

Eldoret, Kenya
June 26, 2024 2:22am CST
On Tuesday 25th June 2024 the whole world watched as young men and women dubbed Generation Z (GenZ) walked into the Kenyan Parliament Buildings in protests against poor leadership in their country. In deed they expressed their grievances in a unique way. Although some were fatally shot, their actions shook the entire government and sent an alarm of a looming revolution. Over 15 countries have faulted president Ruto’s leadership. The US, France, Germany, Russia and Finland among others have condemned how the Government handled the protesters. Over 20 deaths have been reported so far and hundreds injured. Humanitarian service providers were attacked by anti-riot police in full glare of media cameras. A journalist was also shot dead. I would like to know your opinion on what is going on in my country, Kenya. Are Gen Z Protests likely to lead to a revolution?

It's to be hoped that the protests will lead to better leadership but it doesn't always happen.

@SIDIKIMPOLE I don't understand how protesters think it's okay to destroy vehicles, shops, etc. It does nobody any good.

This reminds me my young days, when we did the same in Italy. I hope the protesters will obtain something from the Parliament.

I think if President Ruto continues to approve unpopular policies that hurt people like this finance bill, then his ouster may indeed be called for...
