It feels like it has been around longer than that. I don't remember if I read the Nicholas Sparks book first or if I saw the movie first. My bet would be that I read the book first. I used to religiously read his books but I haven't in years. The Notebook is a movie that I watch every time I see it on TV. I probably have it here somewhere on DVD but who knows. It is a wonderful story of a man living in a nursing home who reads parts of a notebook to a woman who has Alzheimer's living there. *spoiler alert* Long story short--he is reading the love story/relationship that his wife wrote to the woman/wife who can no longer remember it. The movie is a masterpiece. I've seen it dozens of times and it still makes me cry every time. As soon as I saw the headline "One of the saddest romantic movies of all time has now been making us cry for 20 years" I immediately knew it was about The Notebook. Sheesh. Now I want to watch it again.

I don't think I've ever seen it. I had it recorded to watch; but when they changed my cable boxes, I lost all my recordings. Have a good day.

I can’t seem to watch it because it reminds me of my parents, and I had a front row seat to that. My sister liked the movie though, and so does everyone I know who has seen it.

That one is a classic. Unfortunately, I've never read a single book written by Nicholas Sparks, but so far I love all of the movies based on his books.
