For many of you the look at 1964 ends today, because the top two songs are country songs. What did I know then? And, like Duke Ellington said, there’s really only two kinds of music: good and bad. This one is really good. Happy 60th birthday to this gem. #3: Oh, Pretty Woman - Roy Orbison And yet another case of “don’t you give me that Diamond Dave version” in the top ten (the first was the Kinks’ “You Really Got Me”). Nobody has anything on Roy’s growl in this song! Roy Orbison was a great songwriter and a better singer. He’ll show up again next month, just so you know. Meanwhile, enjoy this timeless classic. Oh, Pretty Woman Written by Roy Orbison and Bill Dees Recorded by Roy Orbison Released as a single, 1964 If that’s the way it must be, okay:

@just4him — hey, you’re not as bad as Daddy Evil. He sends me to the emergency room every time he says he knows one!

@FourWalls My son keeps telling me I was born under a stone when it comes to music. What can I say? Thank you.

Oh, I’m sure someone doesn’t. I don’t know that person, though…don’t need negativity in my life.

You are so right about the "growl" ! I know there are covers on this one, but no one does it like Roy . . . don't know how to describe the way he sings it . . . it's "sincere"?

How about "Everybody Loves a Nut"? That's kind of the way I'm feeling today I sent an email to the supervisor of the properties and stated to her that we would lose about 3 work days next week because of the holiday...so we probably won't have the elevator working. She told me "IF I felt the need to relocate they would still move me into a motel 20 miles away from my "home". I keep getting the feeling I should just go crazy and avoid the rush. I'm going to get a recording of that song and have it playing when they next inspect my apartment.

Good album. It was nice to see “another side” of Cash after serious songs like “Remember the Alamo” and “The Ballad of Ira Hayes.”

Love Roy and love the song and most of his songs, Simply love that scene in Pretty Woman where Roberts walks along the street to this song,

Sometimes I think that entire movie was written just for that scene.

Yup. Of course. My dad always said Roy put on the best show at my family’s boardwalk bar.

If you have an hour, watch that Black and White Night concert of Roy’s, where all those superstars of the time gleefully take a back seat to him.

That was a nice romantic comedy, and those are usually not my types of movies.
