Over night in the ER

It's been an interesting last twelve hours. The cough wouldn't quit, so I considered calling my son today to take me to the ER. Instead, while I was in a hot steamy shower to try to get warm and knock this cold on its heels, my phone rang. I told my friend my plans and she took me to the ER.
I got there close to 11 PM, but I didn't see the doctor until an hour later, and only saw him twice during the four hours I was in ER. I dealt with the nurse, a male nurse, very nice, and very good in his work. He was an Army medic. He knew what he was doing. He also had the touch when it came to the IV. I didn't feel it, and I hate needles.
Three hours later, the doctor came in with the verdict. After the ECG and CT scan, the verdict is viral upper respiratory infection.
My friend who dropped me off went home and laid down until I called her. She was asleep with her phone on vibrate. I left several messages. She called me back just after 4 AM and came to get me. I had also called my son without response. So, I waited in the waiting room for an hour before my friend picked me up.
As I called my son a couple of times, and his girlfriend, they both called me about two hours after I got home and was sleeping. I told him the verdict, and his girlfriend messaged me. I've since messaged her. She gets done with work at noon. I asked her to pick me up and take me to Walgreens to fill the four prescriptions.
I'm freezing. I have a low grade temp. According to the discharge papers, I have hypertension, high blood pressure. I don't. Those electronic cuffs never measure my blood pressure correctly and always on the high side. The manual cuff measures it correctly. So does the cuff I have here.
I turned on my heat a short while ago. It's not supposed to get warm today, only the 70s. But with the way I feel, I turned it to 75. I might turn it higher.
I went to bed when I got home as I hadn't slept in 24 hours. I got 3.5 hours of sleep. I'll sleep more today.
I let the people I send my Bible study post to from my e-mails know why the study was late this morning. Now, you know why it was late too.
I'm hoping the medication kicks in quickly when I pick it up.
What I won't do today? Get my steps. Other than leaving the apartment to get my medication, I won't be leaving for the next several days. I have an appointment with the associate to my primary on Monday. The soonest my primary had an opening was three weeks from now, the day before my birthday. I should be over this by then. I sure hope so.
Okay, that's what's happening here. How are you guys? I hope you're all well. Thanks for reading. The image belongs to me.

That kind of sounds like RSV. What is the difference with what you have and a cold?. Your BP might just be high because you are not feeling well. Feel better.

Wow, a new virus or whatever! It seems like everyone is sick. I hope you are feeling better now.
I have a headache and probably a fever. Muscles are aching and I am sneezing non-stop. I can't drive and I am alone today but I really don't care. I want to just sit here typing. At least, I am doing something.

This is your body's way of getting you to slow down for a bit. You do tend to push yourself pretty hard. I'm glad it was not more serious than an infection.

I am glad you went in. I often get a summer cold if I am in air conditioning very much. Part of why we don't use it here. Hope you start feeling better fast

I’m glad you went, and got prescriptions. Hopefully, they will help you quickly. Take it slow and rest, please!!! Don’t worry about steps or whatever, just take good care of yourself, Valerie.

I hope you feel better. And usually when you have “high blood pressure” in the ER it’s because you ARE in the ER (what they call “white coat syndrome”).

@just4him It does suck when you have to cancel church, but thankfully God gave us a really good book to read when we can't make it to church!

Diclofenac Sodium, Albuterol Sulfate, a twelve-hour cough syrup not covered by my insurance, so they gave me an over the counter one that's the same. Cough DM, and Ondansetron ODT for nausea. I'm not nauseous, so I don't see me taking that one, but I have it if it's necessary.

That sounds terrible! I hope that the medicine and rest has helped a bit and you are feeling better today. Take enough rest. I personally feel that rest is the fastest healer. You high BP must have been a temporary thing as you were not feeling good.
