6/29/24 - Update on My Husband

Got a call yesterday that my husband's blood pressure bottomed out again. Also, he was in his wheelchair in the hall and decided to stand up to fix his pants. The next thing he knew he was on the floor. Fortunately he did not hurt himself. He was taken to a small hospital and then transferred to a large hospital where he is being held for observation. I spoke with him and he seems to be OK. He should have known better than to stand up from his wheelchair without any assistance. His bp was around 55/40. Very scary. Thank you for your continued prayers, support and thoughts. Photo Credit: Pixabay

I’m terribly sorry that’s happened, but it might help with the appeal.

I am not sure but I believe that after a hospital stay Medicare kicks back in and starts paying again.

@GardenGerty I don't know about that. It would be nice if they would!

Yeesh. Glad to hear he was okay after that. I hope this doesn't set him back from being able to go home.

He was going to have PT in the hospital; but his heart rate was too high.

@porwest They had him sit on the side of the bed and get up and then walk with the walker. I was glad to hear that. He will just regress if he lies in bed all day.

@LindaOHio Sorry to hear that. Seems he has multiple things sort of standing in the way. I hope he can get some of that resolved.

That is not good news. I wonder if they can figure out what caused it? It sounds like he might need a med change.

It's the weekend; so he hasn't even seen a doctor. They are trying to figure out what to do.

Oh, Linda, I know you wonder what next. Has his blood pressure dropped that low very often? I hope the doctor can address that, maybe a change in meds? I know you're so worried about him, you know I'm praying for you both.

Yes, it was why the first attempt at surgery was aborted, the second attempt had him bottoming out too. He has been sent to the ER at least one other time from the rehab facility. Thank you for your prayers. How are you and your hubby doing?

@LindaOHio You'd think I'd run out of problems, wouldn't you? I may have something going on with my pancreas, one of the enzyme levels is high which might explain why I'm so nauseous and losing weight. I have an appointment Wednesday with my GI doc. So glad you're keeping us updated. How are you doing yourself? Praying for you both, of course.

@1creekgirl I'm sorry to hear about your pancreas. Please keep us posted. I am hanging in there. Getting really tired of being alone and handling everything. Thank you for your prayers. Praying for you as well.

His b/p did dip quite low. I hope that this doesn't deter his progression.

Oh my, Linda, that is an extremely low bp to have. I am glad he didn't seem to hurt himself too bad from the fall.

That's too low BP and can be scary. Thank God that he didn't hurt himself despite that fall. He certainly needs a supervision all the time. Sending prayers for him. You too take care
