This was a Korean thriller and a horror movie, 2 in 1, it seems.
The plot resolves about woman shaman and her apprentice (later, a larger team) who comes to USA to help a Korean family whose baby boy cries constantly and it is still in hospital. It seems the boy is possessed by a great grandfather who had a mental illness. Shaman decides to go back to Korea, dig up the grandfather's grave and cremate him, hoping things would go better. First of all, the grave was made on a lonely forest hill and shaman's friends, feng shui master and expert for graves detected this wasn't a good place to bury dead people at all. Also, some truth comes to light about great grandfather being on Japanese side during the Japanese invasion of Korea.
Shaman and her company face the moment when the spirit of great grandfather escapes the coffin, which shouldn't be opened in the first place but an acquintance of them, in morgue opens the coffin, hearing there was a gold inside the coffin.
The spirit kills his son and his grandson but the team stopped the spirit before it kills the little baby, its great grandson.
This was the first part of the movie. The second part is, when the same coffin was coming out from earth and they performed a ritual to get rid of negativity, the soil where the coffin was, it contained a snake with a small head, which bit one worker who had nightmares since then. He tells that to feng shui master and master comes back to the same grave place and finds out there was another coffin there.
This part i didn't like. It was an evil general, which wasn't a general, human at all. It was actually a sword which formed itself into a human cause it felt so many angriness from Japanese soldiers when they were invading Korea. It was stopped in the end and our team almost got killed.
I don't watch horror movies in general but i felt a good energy rush from this. I read the performed rituals were advised by real shamans. I hope some animals in the movie weren't real or they weren't harmed. People vomiting blood or vomiting in general scenes is something i don't enjoy, yuck. Scenes of shaman's apprentice being possessed were really good cause folk singing was involved.
I watched the movie mostly because of the main actress, Kim Go-eun.

I enjoy thrillers but not horror movies. I don't like to jump every 5 minutes. Hope you are having a good weekend.

Every Saturday evening on Memorable Television (ME TV) a show called "Svegoolie" who is the host of the show that shows horror movies that are from the past and some newer ones with his blend of humor.
