Rotten start to the day

We got 5 kittens to foster from a friend of my sister. She bottle fed them until they were weaned and then I took them. They were 5 little black kittens. We couldn't tell them apart, so Animal Outreach put different colored collars on them. This was a tough litter, ringworm, eye infections, lesions on their tongues. After weeks of dipping them, medicating them, they were doing really well. Most of them lost the collars. We were starting to be able to tell them apart as white patches started appearing and tabby stripes. This morning I went to feed them, and one was hanging over the basket they sleep in, dead. It was the little girl. Somehow she got her collar caught in the basket and must have strangled herself. So sad. She was really sweet.

Something like that would really upset me. I hope you find homes for the rest of them.

That's really sad. It's easy for animals to get caught up by collars. Horses sometimes get caught by their halters. It's all very well having unbreakable halters but if it doesn't break, the horse will.
