A nail biting finish, wherein India kept its nerves to beat Proteas (South Africa)by 7 runs.
The match was a kind of see-saw battle.
At times, India had the upper edge.
At times, it was South Africa.
South Africa took 2 early Indian wickets but India posted a good 176 in 20 overs, riding on Virat Kohli's 76, Axar Patel - 47 and a good 20 plus knock by Shivam Dubey.
In reply, Proteas were struggling at 12 for 2.
Then, Stubbs, Quinton De Kock and Klaasen bought them to the brink of victory.
Klaasen was the most aggressive and made 52 quickfire runs!
Yet his was a prized wicket.
With Marco Jansen also gone, India built up the pressure and in the end won by 7 runs!
A superb match and both the teams played so well!!
A moment to remember and cherish for all the Indians!!

There have been big celebrations going around.
I live in a Multi Storeyed apartment and once the team won, people came out in balconies and started clapping and shouting.
It was a long long awaited win!

Yes it was a nail biting finish. At one stage, South Africa needed just 27 runs of 28 balls. Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh and Hardik Pandya kept their nerves to check South Africa and bring the victory to India.

I think the wicket of Klaasen shifted the advantage to India. Indian bowlers consistently did a great job

Yes I duly concur as Klaasen was in a terrific form and was taking match away from India.

Yes the Proteas blew it up after needing just 27 of 28.
That is a new look Indian team with Shubhman Gill as captain and some players who haven't played much for India.
They would need some time to adjust.

After 17 years, India lifts the T20 world cup. It was a best gift to Dravid as parting gift. As far as the match goes, Axar's innings was critical alongwith Virat's especially at 34-3 . One of the key differences compared to earlier world cup wins, the bowling unit was disciplined and the fast bowlers stuck to their jobs. Bumrah was at his best. His bowling was the difference for this final as well as the match against Pakistan . South Africa choked on pressure but it was a thriller. Happy to see the victory!

Yes Axar's was a superb and timely innings. Also kudos to Hardik for keeping his nerves, getting the dangerous and aggressive Klaasen out and then bowling the crucial final over.
South Africa just needed 27 of 28 balls and still they lost. They would be very very dejected !
