I live here at the Jersey Shore. Yes THE Jersey Shore that was made famous on MTV's show of that name. Whatever. We were here first. My family has a long history in Seaside Heights with 3 extremely popular bars and nightclubs.
Anyway my aunts and uncle used to bartend at the boardwalk bar. I was very young when they worked there and have limited memories of The Chatterbox. My uncle is hilarious and was living somewhere in Seaside at the time so he rode his bike to work. Not unusual. . .
Except some streets had off ramps for bikes and some did not. One night my uncle had a few too many after work and then rode his bike back to his place. He chose the wrong street to try to exit from and there was no ramp. He was mid-air and realized that there was no ramp. It is one of the funniest stories that he tells. He rode full speed off the boardwalk and got some serious air.
We all still laugh about that story and it happened like 50 years ago.

That's a classic Jersey Shore tale! Your uncle definitely took "riding off into the sunset" to a whole new level with that bike escapade. It's amazing how those hilarious family stories stick with us through the years.
