Strange and Silly Thoughts

Scrolling through my Facebook feed this morning, I saw the following: "What's the strangest thing you believed as a kid." I can't remember much of what I did or did not believe in the 1970s, but I remember one silly thing that came to mind once. It was June 1975; I was seven. "Someone Saved My Life Tonight" from Elton John's Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy was just released. And boy, did I seriously get a craving for that cereal! What's the strangest or silliest thing you believed or thought as a kid? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6lKRgJEXqY

You know how the Apostle Paul prayed that the Lord would take away the thorn in his flesh? When I was six, someone told me that it was because he had red hair, and I believed them. I kept wondering what was so terrible about being a red headed man during Bible times.

@Chellezhere I think the person who told me that was red headed. His name was Jon, and he had red hair, but he was also Native American. His son married my cousin who also has red hair, and they now have two red headed kids. And everyone does a double take when anyone mentions being part Native American.

@AmbiePam, I know what you mean. I have Cherokee ancestry (DNA and paper trail proof). My skin is red, but my hair was dark blonde and my eyes are green.

Nothing. Most of the men I dated had some level of red hair, and so does my dark auburn brown haired son. His father (my ex) had strawberry blonde head hair and true red facial. His maternal grandmother was 100% true redhead.

About that time I read a book on UFOs and became obsessed about men in black and was sure they were following me! That lasted for a couple of weeks

They may not be stalking us face-to-face, but they are always out there somewhere.

@Chellezhere If they are undercover, they'll have to be men in some other colour

@Ronrybs Or, in black outfits that are not a suit and tie.

I grew up in a Catholic family. So it should not be a surprise that the burning fires of hell held my mind captive until reason and logic overcame it.

Oh, I remember thoughts about that, too. My dad was Catholic, and though my mother was not, so am I.
