The speakers I've been working on are almost done!

I've been putting a lot of effort into these 1970 (or so) AR-3as. The wood was pretty badly water-damaged when I got them, and several edges and corners were simply missing. I mostly used 150 grit sandpaper for the basic sanding, and Elmer's Walnut Woodfiller to fill in the missing parts. I actually used Gorilla Wood Glue to replace missing veneer with thin slices of veneer I bought several years ago. I can't really calculate the number of hours that goes into a restoration like this. Sometimes I'll work for half-an-hour, and then let things dry. Other times I'll just sand away, perhaps "hot water treat" one surface, and then turn to another. I'll attach a photo of what these looked like yesterday. I was working on the most difficult side, and oiling up the front edges. I am doing some "nylon tests" and micro-level stuff today. Do I get a "Boy Howdy" for having a hobby that pays?

I think they wind up in a basement when Grandpa (then 18) goes off to College, and stay there for a long time.

Not sure what a Boy Howdy is but good for you for having a hobby that pays. The owner will be blown away when these are returned.

I am not totally sure either. I think it's a Grandpa way of saying "Well, Gosh and Golly!"

Boy Howdy! You don't get paid anywhere near the effort that you put into them. They look really great. Have a good day.
