I have my carpal tunnel release surgery scheduled tomorrow and I am really nervous about it. So as a healthcare professional I know knowledge can reduce anxiety so here I am doing some reading about it. It seems like a very minor surgery but it is my first surgery ever so please keep me in your prayers guys.

Knowledge is key these days about EVERYTHING in life I just wish a lot more people would realize it & do more of it.

I think the fear of unknown is what causes anxiety so yes we must keep chasing knowledge and we will be more confident and less fearful.

@flapiz that is very true, but some people just don't like taking the time to learn things that will help them in life.

@2ndchances24 Sometimes life gets too busy to learn. It has to be a conscious and intentional effort really.

It is better to get it done with than have that problem on your hands

I will pray for you. My sister and mom both had it, and felt a lot better for it.

Thank you for the encouragement. I do fear it won't work so having positive stories helps my nerves .

I'll be thinking of you and sending positive thoughts your way! It's completely normal to feel nervous, especially with it being your first surgery. Wishing you a smooth procedure and a speedy recovery! I might also have a surgery but I am hoping the antibiotics will be enough and there will be no need for that surgery.

It is a very minor surgery, a friend of my Mom had this when she was already 80, you can relax, but I understand your anxiety. You will be in my thoughts. Take care and let us know how do you feel after surgery.

Thank you Anna. I am waiting for it now it will be in 30minutes. I am a bit light headed to be honest. But I think when it finishes I will be fine.

You'll do fine. My sister had a pretty serious case of that. She had to wear a brace.

I was told mine is severe so I am worried. I have been splinting at night and had injections now it is time for the surgery. I have it in 30 minutes. In the waiting room.

I'm not sure knowledge really does reduce anxiety. An acquaintance recently told me she was awaiting surgery to remove a tumour behind her nose. She seemed quite looking forward to it but knowing what's involved, I find it frankly terrifying! Anyway I'm sure your surgery will all be fine, as you say it's quite minor and done under local anaesthetic so I'm sure it will all go smoothly.

My mother had carpel tunnel and she had surgery too. She said it didn't hurt because they numbed it first.

Yeah I was a happy camper when the anesthetics was in action. I got a shock when it wore off.

@JudyEv Yep it was quick. The wait was more horrible than the actual surgery. Dealing with post op pain.

You will do well. Everyone I know who has had that done was so glad they went ahead and did it. It will be worth it in the end!

@MarieCoyle I cannot do both at the same time. I worry Andrea would have a hard time. I am currently one handed.

@flapiz I have known quite a few people who had both wrists done, and no complications at all. I'm sure you will be glad after it's over.
