Happy Wednesday Everyone! we have a nice sunny day here today. The temperatures are going to get hot again but the past few days were really beautiful.
Tomorrow is our big holiday celebrating the 4th of July.
I'll be going to my daughters as she's having a big barbecue and I offered to make the potato salad and baked beans. I make a decent potato salad but it still falls short of my moms. My mom made the best potato salad and it was legendary (yes, legendary in our family ).
I'm looking forward to going out, socializing and enjoying delicious barbecue favorites.
Are you doing anything fun for the 4th of July?

Yep, going up to Erie for a couple of days. I wish we could stay a bit longer..but friend brings his dog so has to stay in a motel. My dad said he could sleep on the patio..but I am not sure if the dog would stay quiet. Also A bit worried about Nico and leaving him too long, but an extra day probably wouldn't be a big deal..but the plans are in place now. I love potato salad and baked beans. I suppose we will barbecue up there..no one has said..but that is the usual.I am brining a watermelon.

I know you’re going to have a fantastic time! My dad’s side of the family is getting together for their annual reunion, but I quit going about four years ago. They spend the majority of the time outdoors, and I can’t do it anymore. Even my dad was like, just don’t try it (it’s a 3 day thing).

I'll probably spend half my time tomorrow inside and outside. If it's hot then more inside time. I don't blame you for passing on your dad's reunion. All tha time outdoors isn't for me anymore.

Just another day for me. Most of the holidays turn out that way for me. In the past, with my mom and cousins, before getting married, we always had cookouts. Others call it a BBQ. We usually cooked the meats, which were almost always hamburgers and hotdogs. Brats were not a big thing back then. We also had my mom's baked beans, and others attending brought their specialties. Even if it was just my mom and I, we had a cookout. We liked cooking out a lot during the warm months.
After I got married, my husband and I lived away from where I grew up. We still did a lot of cookouts, especially on the 3 big warm weather holidays, Memorial Day, 4th of July (Independence Day), and Labor Day. But it was always just us and our kids. Once the kids grew up, they were no longer interested in family traditions. Once I was divorced, and it was just me, I joined in with my church's singles group for these special times. But now it is basically just a day no different than any other day.
I always liked going to see the fireworks, and right now I can see them right outside where I live. But I don't do that anymore because I don't want to take my dog outside, and since she can still hear them inside, and is scared of noise, I stay inside with her.

We are going to my cousin's for the fourth. She does not want us bringing anything. But I will anyway.

My MIL made legendary potato salad too. Could never duplicate it. I will be visiting my husband today. Have a safe and happy 4th.
