Miniature Australian Sheppard Pups

There was a man at East Tawas City Park, selling miniature Australian Sheppard puppies. He had six pups, the pure breed mother and another small dog (not the father). He was asking $600 for these puppies, people didn't seem to be buying them. They were beautiful animals, but he mentioned that they weren't pure breeds. One lady asked, "How big will they be, as a full grow dog?" He said, probably around 25 pounds. Yes, that's a nice size dog, they weren't flitting all over the place or barking. My guess would be, they'd be a very nice, mild tempered pet. I was impressed by their meek behavior:) We aren't in the market for a $600 dog, so I didn't get back with Steve. I offered the number to Jay, in case he thought this was a good investment. He didn't call, which is fine with me. Am I shopping for another dog? NO!! The man just appeared at East Tawas City Park. I hope they find good homes. Are they good at herding miniature sheep?

@TheHorse I owned a terrier for about seven years. Wiffy never slowed down for two minutes! He got us in trouble, barking all night long:(

Or possibly, they could be used for herding mice and rodents!

As much as I like would like to have another dog as a pet, I cannot afford to adopt or purchase a mixed breed or pur breed puppy.

And I'm renting right now is a bad time, to adopt a dog. We can't even afford to buy dog food, we have to save our money for other expenses.

I was thinking the exact same thing. They were gorgeous puppies! And they weren't jumping all over the place and incessantly barking.

That sounds kind of shady to me. I know shelters offer adoption days, where they may go to parks or pet stores with animals up for adoption, but 600 for a dog is pretty steep.

@kobesbuddy Still seems like a shady breeder to me. I wonder if what he's doing is even legal.

These pups looked almost identical, the mother dog was obviously a full breed.

I can't speak for the minis, but I had a 75-Lb Aussie who was a wonderful pet and guard dog.

This is not the puppy, it is a photo I borrowed from Pixabay. It looks similar to the mother dog.

Cute little pup. Our son's dog is an Aussie-Doodle. They are dogs that absolutely need to be kept busy. They are very high strung. They are constantly shepherding, skirting the crowd and gathering the people or other animals in. They are very intelligent and love to do puzzles, in their spare time because they need to be busy most of the time. This pup is actually about half of the cost of what our son's dog purchase price was.

They will be high energy dogs. They are in the herding group of breeds.

This photo only resembles the mother dog, not exactly. She was much smaller.

They say you can tell how big the dog will be as an adult by its paws. If it has big paws, it's going to be a big dog.

Those are high-energy working dogs. They would NOT be a good pet unless you had them doing agility training, were constantly walking them, etc.

@kobesbuddy doesn't matter. Aussies were bred to be working dogs and they are very high energy. They also try to herd things like chickens, children, and cars.

Puppies are hard to pass up. $600 for a non purebred dog is pretty steep. Have a safe and happy 4th.

I can't afford $600, even for a purebreed.
