... but what a mess. I get fiber is the new hot thing but at the prices they want for it, no thanks. Chilly watched them for a while. And, you can still see cones where they'd dug and did work. Oh well, it would be there if we won the lottary or something and could duump money into internet.

I have cable internet through spectrum. Fiber internet is a type of technology that's supposed to be the best of the best. Because it's underground, and doesn't rely on tradational cables and such, then it can be blazing fast, and always on and so much more. But starting at 50/month no thank you.

@MarshaMusselman I am sure you'll be happy when the land line goes away.

@kaylachan my Internet is thru spectrum as well. My package is already high enough. Is like to get rid of my landline but have to wait until all my customers have my cell number first.

I've heard that fiber is very expensive! Dish network was popular, they kept raising their prices:(

It is. Wire3's lowest service that we "qualify for" is 50/month. I'm sorry. The fedral founding that was paying for my internet ran out, and now my bill is 30//month from specrum. I'm not switching.

I have no control over the city's decisions. I just know it's a thing being built right out my front door, literally.

It comes down to an "it is what it is" situation. We're at the whim of them at the end of the day, and they have us right where they want us. If we want what they have, we have to pay the price.

Yeah we do. irronically, I saw a flyier for the metronet being installed in our yard, and it's offering the same price per month for the same speeds I'm paying spectrum for now.

@kaylachan What it all comes down to is not how much it SHOULD cost, but how much it costs to build the infrastructure which at some point has to be recouped.

The cost wouldn’t make sense for me, and I really don’t feel like I am missing anything.

I don't need or want it, either. Isn't going to stop them from offering it to us and installing the parts in our yard.

Have a safe and happy 4th. I don't think fiber is available in our area.
