Day 172 – God First
Deuteronomy 6:1 “Now this is the commandment, and these are the statutes and judgments which JEHOVAH your Elohiym commanded to teach you, that you may observe them in the land which you are crossing over to possess, 2 that you may fear JEHOVAH your Elohiym, to keep His statutes and His commandments which I command you, you and your son and your grandson, all the days of your life, and that your days may be prolonged. 3 Therefore, hear, O Israel, and be careful to observe it, that it may be well with you, and that you may multiply greatly as JEHOVAH Elohiym of your fathers promised you— ‘a land flowing with milk and honey.’
4 “Hear, O Israel: JEHOVAH our Elohiym, JEHOVAH is one!
5 “You will love JEHOVAH your Elohiym with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. 6 These words which I command you today will be in your heart. 7 You will teach them diligently to your children and will talk about them when you sit in your house, when you walk, when you lie down, and when you rise. 8 You will bind them as a sign on your hand, and they will be as frontlets between your eyes. 9 You will write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
10 “So it will be, when JEHOVAH your Elohiym brings you into the land of which He swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give you large and beautiful cities which you did not build, 11 houses full of good things, which you did not fill, hewn-out wells which you did not dig, vineyards and olive trees which you did not plant—when you have eaten and are full— 12 then beware, lest you forget JEHOVAH who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.
13 “You will fear JEHOVAH your Elohiym and serve Him and will take oaths in His name. 14 You will not go after other elohiym, the elohiym of the peoples who are all around you 15 ‘(for JEHOVAH your Elohiym is a jealous Elohiym among you), lest the anger of JEHOVAH your Elohiym be aroused against you and destroy you from the face of the earth.
16 “You will not tempt JEHOVAH your Elohiym as you tempted Him in Massah. 17 You will diligently keep the commandments of JEHOVAH your Elohiym, His testimonies, and His statutes which He has commanded you. 18 You will do what is right and good in the sight of JEHOVAH, that it may be well with you, and that you may go in and possess the good land of which JEHOVAH swore to your fathers, 19 to cast out your enemies from before you, as JEHOVAH has spoken.
20 “When your son asks you in time to come, saying, ‘What is the meaning of the testimonies, the statutes, and the judgments which JEHOVAH our Elohiym commanded you?’ 21 then you will say to your son: ‘We were slaves of Pharaoh in Egypt, and JEHOVAH brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand; 22 and JEHOVAH showed signs and wonders before our eyes, great and severe, against Egypt, Pharaoh, and his household. 23 Then He brought us out from there, that He might bring us in, to give us the land of which He swore to our fathers. 24 JEHOVAH commanded us to observe all these statutes, to fear JEHOVAH our Elohiym, for our good always, that He might preserve us alive, as it is this day. 25 Then it will be righteousness for us, if we are careful to observe these commandments before JEHOVAH our Elohiym, as He commanded us.’
God’s names:
JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
Elohiym – Supreme God
Yeshuwa – Jesus
Theos – Supreme Divinity
Iesous – Jesus
God’s character:
Jealous
How many elohiym do you serve? You might look at that question and tell yourself, you only serve one Elohiym. Yet, when was the last time you went to church? Do you put Elohiym ahead of your family, work, recreation, money, time? Those are elohiym. Anything you put ahead of Elohiym is an elohiym in your life.
Moses told Israel there was only one Elohiym and He was a jealous Elohiym. He wanted His people to look to Him for everything, to talk about Him all the time, wherever they were and whatever they did. They were not to leave Him out of the conversation.
When you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, you talked about Him and your conversion to everyone for a short period of time. Then you stopped talking about Him. You went to church, and might still go to church, but you don’t talk about Him as you once did. If Elohiym comes up in conversation, it might be in a defensive manner, or you might ask for prayer for a situation. At home, you spend your time in your favorite activities, watching television, playing games, spending time with friends and family, but Elohiym doesn’t come up in your activities or conversations. What happened?
Yeshuwa told the people they were to put Elohiym first before everything else in their lives.
Matthew 6:33 “But seek first the kingdom of Theos and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
Mark 10:28 Then Peter began to say to Him, “See, we have left all and followed You.”
29 So Iesous answered and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My sake and the gospel’s, 30 who will not receive a hundredfold now in this time—houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and lands, with persecutions—and in the age to come, eternal life.
When you put Elohiym first in your life, He will add to your life, not subtract from it. You will have everything you need, and your desires also.
What does your life look like? Is there abundance or lack? If Elohiym isn’t first in your life, make Him first. Put Him ahead of your schedules. Give Him your activities, work, family, obligations, time, and money. Then watch Him bless you with those things.
John 10:10 “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. (NKJV)
Yeshuwa promises abundant life when you put Him first. Consider your day and how full it is, then add one more thing to your day, Elohiym, and watch Him take care of everything and add time you didn’t have to accomplish your obligations.
When you put Him first at the beginning of your day, He will stretch out your day so you can accomplish everything you need to accomplish.
Let’s pray: Father, thank you for being my Elohiym, my God. Help me to put You first in everything I do and say, so You can bless me abundantly as You promised. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

God seems to be rather proud of his own doings there, and he wants his people to remember what he has done for them. God's interest in our lives is very real then, and this is because he loves each one of us, as his own.

@just4him Perhaps, proud is a more human word, but God is overjoyed, I think, when we obey his will, love him, and follow his commandments.
He feels like a "proud" father in the sense of his being pleased, when we follow his guidance.
Thanks, I hope that your day felt blessed too.
