I didn't realize I hadn't done the review for this book yet. Lisa Jewell is a best selling author. This is one of her earlier works (copyright 2009). I believe I picked this up from a Little Free Library, if not the used book store. ~~~~ Melody Browne can remember nothing before her ninth birthday. Now in her early thirties, Melody lives in the middle of London with her seventeen-year-old son. She hasn't seen her parents since she left home at fifteen, but Melody doesn't mind. She feels better off on her own. But when fragments of her past re-emerge, she slowly beings to piece together the real story of her childhood. With every mystery she solves, another one materializes; with every question she answers another appears. And Melody begins to wonder if she'll ever know the truth about her past. In this moving and memorable novel, Lisa Jewell proves once again she is a master storyteller. ~~~~ Melody Browne remembers nothing of her life before the age of 9 (neither do I ), until one night she goes to a hypnotist's show. She was one of the chosen few. But something went wrong and Melody passed out. After that night bits and pieces of her childhood returned in flashes. It was confusing to her. Who were these people and places she was remembering? Thus began the journey for Melody to learn about her childhood and who her real family is. Brilliantly written, interesting story. Not just a good story, but a good concept for a story. And learning what she lived through may have been painful at times, she learned who the real Melody Browne is.

It was very interesting going back and forth from the past and the present knowing she knew nothing of that past until she was able to find the information and meet the people. I don't know how else to describe it. So well thought out.
