Breakfast in the 'hood

July 9, 2024 9:54am CST
This has become almost a daily morning occurrence now. Mama deer and her fawn directly across the street feeding. Got glasses a year ago that didn't really help much, in fact the past few months they haven't really done anything to make things less blurry at all. And the eye exam today showed why - I have a cataract growing into the center of my vision on my right eye, so I'm being recommended for surgery to remove it (the cataract of course, not the eye). So life is still beautiful, I just can't see it very clearly right now. Later.

Having the cataract removed will make a huge difference - or so everybody says. It would be nice watching the doe and her fawn going about their business.

@Scarred4Lyfe I discovered that I had cataracts from one day to the other. I was looking out of my window and thought that my glasses were dirty. I cleaned them. Nope. So I cleaned the window. Nothing. My next move was to go to the doctor.

@Scarred4Lyfe Can you get audio books or is it the reading you like?

If I try using just my right eye, I cannot read even with the screen enlarged to 150%. As I am a voracious reader it is very problematic.

You got a really good picture..kudos. We have a mama deer with a young deer that pops up around here from time to time. The spots are gone on the small deer although it is still a juvenile.

@Scarred4Lyfe I had one just behind the deck the other day. Naturally, as soon as I went for the phone it disappeared.

@snowy22315 I've got some excellent video of these two, they've been a constant presence for the past two weeks or so.

Years ago I discovered I had cataracts from one day to the other. I had surgery and it was easy and it worked.

@Scarred4Lyfe I had that surgery when I was quite young. Fortunatly at that time I had more money than what I had now so I did not have to wait as some people do here.

I love seeing deer, I hope Scar and Emoci don't see roast when they look at them. Sorry about your vision. I hope that can be corrected easily,

They are a bit leery of the deer, they don't like it moving too close to them.

I have cataracts on both eyes. The doctor said he won't remove them, until they obstruct my vision. So far, my sight seems to be pretty good. My sister had cataracts removed, she said the surgery was easy and simple. Her sight is improved because of it.

I've had them in both eyes for quite a bit, it has only been in the last year that the right one has grown considerably and began interfering with my vision.

You will love it when you get your new lenses put in. I didn't care for the surgery; but the results are amazing. I saw your video on FB. That was really cool. Have a good day.

I have a cataract in my left eye that is very close to the same condition. I guess I will have to do the same thing, I dread it but hey...we do what we have to do. I know cataract surgery is a lot simpler and easier than it's ever been, not nearly the recovery, anything. I took a friend to have it done a few months ago, picked her up in a few hours, and she went to work the next day. About 15? years or so ago, I took my aunt to have hers done, the recovery lasted for days with her resting and constant eye drops, etc. At least it's all advanced somewhat, if that's any consolation.
