We recently ordered some digital copies of old VHS tapes and they were hilarious to watch!
Our 34 year old granddaughter Kristin was four in the first one and she was so hyper and funny. I put on a pageant in the living room and she would "ice skate", then sing a song she had written (always about how much she loved Jesus!)
Then of course she always won the competition...it was so much fun.
She was the first grandchild and she and our daughter Tammy lived with us until Kristin was about five. So you know she was spoiled, for sure!
We have film of her driving Dale's pickup truck, the four wheel Honda, the lawn mower, and every other motorized whatever we had. Of course Dale was with her. Dale and her daddy were part time race car drivers, so I guess it was in her blood.
One clip in the movie was a birthday party and it was sad to see several relatives who are gone now, especially my Grannie. I still miss her.
I'm looking forward to the other four tapes, then later we may have some more converted. The only disappointing thing was that I couldn't catch all the words on the audio part.
But I know those VHS tapes will disintegrate before too much longer and those films are priceless.
Have you all had any tapes like that transferred to digital?

I'm glad you are converting your VHS tapes. Your memories will be preserved. The only VHS tape that I converted to DVD was a movie. It was quite easy to do as we have a VCR/DVD player/recorder. How are you and Dale doing? Have a good weekend.

I just had my second ablation on my back and it went well. I'm just a little sore and achy, but hopefully the endoscopy Monday will show why I've been so nauseous for so long and lost weight, then I'll have an eval at the pain clinic about my neck.
How are you feeling? Will you get to visit your husband this week?

I'm not pushing this company (nothing in it for me), but I'm pleased with IMemories.

@1creekgirl Glad it worked out for you. We got rid of our vhs tatapes years ago, because they didn't age well.

@kaylachan I know they disintegrate after so many years, so we were so glad to get them transferred. We've got around 40, so it's too expensive to transfer all of them.

@1creekgirl - The VHS do not last forever and the old slides fade and they are not comfortable to watch.

IMemories is what we used. They're kind of expensive, but good service and quality. We're just doing five at a time, but I don't think there's any minimum number of tapes per order.

Great that you could preserve such beautiful memories.
I'd never even thought to have VHS converted to digital, but it's a great idea. My parents have VHS that I'm sure they'd Love to have converted, I'll talk to them about it.

There are probably several companies that do those conversions, but IMemories is good so far.

What a joy to watch! About ten years ago my sister’s husband transferred VHS tapes to DVD. A lot of them had my mom on them, and I couldn’t watch much at the time. I’d like to watch them with my dad and sister, but I don’t think my dad will ever be up for it.

It can be so emotional, that's for sure. Maybe one day you'll be able to watch them, but if not, you'll always have your special memories of your mom.
