Day 177 – Listen Deuteronomy 11:1 “Therefore, you will love JEHOVAH your Elohiym, and keep His charge, His statutes, His judgments, and His commandments always. 2 Know today that I do not speak with your children, who have not known and who have not seen the chastening of JEHOVAH your Elohiym, His greatness and His mighty hand and His outstretched arm— 3 His signs and His acts which He did in the midst of Egypt, to Pharaoh king of Egypt, and to his land; 4 what He did to the army of Egypt, to their horses and their chariots: how He made the waters of the Red Sea overflow them as they pursued you, and how JEHOVAH destroyed them to this day; 5 what He did for you in the wilderness until you came to this place; 6 and what He did to Dathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab, the son of Reuben: how the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up, their households, their tents, and all the substance in their possession, in the midst of Israel— 7 but your eyes have seen every great act of JEHOVAH which He did. 8 “Therefore, you will keep every commandment which I command you today, that you may be strong, and go in and possess the land which you cross over to possess, 9 and that you may prolong your days in the land which JEHOVAH swore to give your fathers, to them and their descendants, ‘a land flowing with milk and honey.’ 10 For the land you go to possess is not like the land of Egypt from which you came, where you sowed your seed and watered it by foot, as a vegetable garden; 11 but the land you cross over to possess is a land of hills and valleys, which drinks water from the rain of heaven, 12 a land for which JEHOVAH your Elohiym cares; the eyes of JEHOVAH your Elohiym are always on it, from the beginning of the year to the end of the year. 13 “It will happen if you earnestly obey My commandments I command you today, to love JEHOVAH your Elohiym to serve Him with your heart and with your soul, 14 then I will give you the rain for your land in its season, the early rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your grain, your new wine, and your oil. 15 I will send grass in your fields for your livestock, that you may eat and be filled. 16 “Take heed to yourselves, lest your heart be deceived, and you turn aside and serve other elohiym and worship them, 17 lest JEHOVAH’S anger be aroused against you, and He shut up the heavens so it will not rain, and the land yields no produce, and you perish quickly from the good land which JEHOVAH gives you. 18 “Therefore, you will lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and bind them as a sign on your hand, and they will be as frontlets between your eyes. 19 You will teach them to your children, speaking of them when you sit in your house, when you walk, when you lie down, and when you rise. 20 You will write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates, 21 that your days and the days of your children may be multiplied in the land of which JEHOVAH swore to your fathers to give them, like the days of the heavens above the earth. 22 “For if you keep these commandments which I command you to do—to love JEHOVAH your Elohiym, to walk in all His ways, and to hold fast to Him— 23 then JEHOVAH will drive out these nations from before you, and you will dispossess greater and mightier nations than yourselves. 24 Every place on which the sole of your foot treads will be yours: from the wilderness and Lebanon, from the river, the River Euphrates, even to the Western Sea, will be your territory. 25 No man will can stand against you; JEHOVAH your Elohiym will put the dread of you and the fear of you upon the land where you tread, just as He has said to you. 26 “Behold, I set before you today a blessing and a curse: 27 the blessing, if you obey the commandments of JEHOVAH your Elohiym which I command you today; 28 and the curse, if you do not obey the commandments of JEHOVAH your Elohiym, but turn aside from the way which I command you today, to go after other elohiym which you have not known. 29 “Now it will happen, when JEHOVAH your Elohiym has brought you into the land which you go to possess, that you will put the blessing on Mount Gerizim and the curse on Mount Ebal. 30 Are they not on the other side of the Jordan, toward the setting sun, in the land of the Canaanites who dwell in the plain opposite Gilgal, beside the terebinth trees of Moreh? 31 For you will cross over the Jordan and go in to possess the land which JEHOVAH your Elohiym is giving you, and you will possess it and dwell in it. 32 You will be careful to observe the statutes and judgments I set before you today. God’s names: JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal Elohiym – Supreme God Yeshuwa – Jesus Christos – Anointed One, Messiah God’s character: Promise Giver Instructor How often do you forget to do what someone told you to do? You sit in a meeting, or school, you hear the instructions, but you didn’t listen to them and left without a clear understanding of what you need to do and continue with your plans without realizing the consequences of what you heard. Moses told the children of Israel what happened to them because they disobeyed JEHOVAH. Then he told them the consequences of their behavior if they continued to disobey Elohiym. He gave them the blessing and curse of obedience and disobedience. He told them they were to write the statutes and commandments on the doorposts of their homes, put them between their eyes, and on their hands so they would never forget them. Then when they crossed the Jordan River, they were to put the curses Elohiym gave them on Mount Ebal, and the blessings on Mount Gerizim. They were to carefully observe the statutes and judgments Elohiym gave them. If they obeyed Him, then Elohiym would give them every place their feet walked. When you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, you committed your life to Him, to obey Him in everything, so He would bless you as He promised to bless His chosen people. Yet, how many Christians know the blessings Elohiym promised them? How many Christians read their Bibles, so they know what JEHOVAH requires of them? How many Christians sit in church on Sunday morning and walk out the doors and forget what the sermon was about? You carry your Bible, but you don’t open it. You hear without listening. If someone were to ask you what you heard, you couldn’t tell them, because you didn’t listen. Your mind wandered to what you planned to do when the service got over. Your commitment meant nothing when you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord because you continued to do what you always did, with one exception: you go to church and spend time with other believers. What do you talk about? Your commitment to JEHOVAH meant you would spend time with Him, read His Word, listen to what He tells you and live the gospel of Yeshuwa Christos. If you don’t, you won’t hear the trumpet call when Yeshuwa raptures His church, and Satan will take the signs JEHOVAH told Israel to put on their forehead and hand and put his mark on you instead. Revelation 13:11 Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth, and he had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon. 12 He exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence and causes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. 13 He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men. 14 He deceives those who dwell on the earth by those signs which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who was wounded by the sword and lived. 15 He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed. 16 He causes everyone, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, 17 and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Now is the time for you to listen, not only hear, but listen to what JEHOVAH tells you. There will be a day when it will be too late. Don’t let Satan deceive you into believing his lies about the time you have left before you accept Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord. Today is the day of salvation. Today, if you hear His voice, listen and do. Don’t turn away from Him and tell yourself you have time. No one knows how much time they have. Don’t enter eternity without knowing Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord. Accept Him today. Let’s pray: Father, help me listen when You speak, read Your Word, and obey You when You give me instructions for my life. Let Your blessings fall on me as rain from heaven when I obey You and cast-off Satan’s lies and trample them under my feet. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
