Before I head to Putt Putt I’m having lunch. I’m also going to give you a two-for-one special with today’s entry on the monthlong list of favorite musicians who hail from Texas. That’s right, it’s a duo…and they’re both Texan! Seals & Crofts Did you know that these guys were in the Champs, the band that did “Tequila”? After that was recorded, mind you, but they were members…along with some guy named Glen Campbell. In fact, in the early 60s, they had a band with Glen. As a duo, Jim Seals and Dash Crofts pretty much defined “soft rock” in the early and mid 70s. Their song “We May Never Pass This Way Again” was a high school graduation song in a lot of places in the early 70s. Around 1976, as their popularity started to wane, Seals’ brother Dan began having hits as part of England Dan and John Ford Coley. After their success, Dan Seals became primarily known as a country singer/songwriter. He passed away in 2009. Jim Seals died in 2022. Crofts will be 86 next month. Their feel-good music is a highlight of the 70s. Seals & Crofts Seals: Born James Eugene Seals October 17, 1942, Sidney Died June 6, 2022, Nashville (long illness) (age 79) Crofts: Born Darrell George Crofts August 14, 1938, Cisco (age 85) Here’s my favorite Seals & Crofts song, “I’ll Play for You”:

@FourWalls i have to correct myself. it starts in a mild tone, then it's a little party and then it comes back to the beginning. it really is terrific.

I didn’t think our “soft rock” transferred that well overseas, and you confirm that.

I do not know Seals & Crofts but I do know Glen Cambell. I like some of his songs, like Galveston, Rhinestone Cowboy.

I think Seals & Crofts were strictly an American popular act.

You mentioned one of my faves from the 60's, Glen Campbell. I was reminded of his music a couple of days ago when I heard him singing the title song to "True Grit". I got to thinking of other songs he did, Galveston, Wichita Lineman and others. I also enjoyed Seals & Crofts and had many of their singles and albums in my collections.

Very interesting that they were in a band together. You wouldn’t think their music would be compatible, especially considering that it was that they met in the Champs.
