I just read more about the shooting at the Trump meeting.

Good morning, friends.
I was somewhat amazed that the shooter was a Republican. Then I thought that nuts are nuts. Insane people are everywhere and there is no police in the world who can stop all of them. That´s why I´m against weapons.
Ever since the times of ancient Rome, there have been people who want to stay in History books because they have shot an important man.
And for some reason, the names of people who have done good things have been forgotten while the news and the media keep these murderers´ names alive forever.
We know who killed President Kennedy but we have forgotten the names of many of the people that helped him. And the name of John Lennon´s murderer is still present in the mind of everyone.
Why is it? Because many people love gore details and it "sells". And the media take advantage of all this.
I have now seen more pictures and videos of Trump being shot than of all the things he has said or done during his campaign. So maybe, after all, he turns into a sort of saint at the expense of a cut ear.
It has happened. It happens in my country, at least.
We are a weird species.
See you later. I am hungry.

To me it is a wakeup call. We're too politically charged, and we have lost our ability to set aside emotions and be rational. One millimeter in another direction and the discussion we'd be having today would be a much different one. That ought to give us all a pause.
At what point are we going to accept our political rhetoric has gone too far? Because if this isn't an event that fosters that question and a serious debate about it, I don't know what else will.

In my country politics now have become a sort of either too far right or too far left. I don´t think it is good for a country to have a void where moderate people used to be.

@marguicha I think even here in America MOST people are more moderate individually. What gives us the sense of deeper divisions is because of how politicians act and the way the media portrays things.

I haven't heard the shooter was a republican, but I am glad they took him out
with a shot to the head & Trump didn't get killed, I knew this was going to
happen at some point, me & husband were just talking about this a few
days ago last week after Biden said something in (we have to take him OUT)

I have the same issue with Media.
During Covid Times as well, sometimes deaths were highlighted more than uncountable lives saved.
Bad events' News hog the limelight for many days.
Good news is published rarely.
Some news sites and Newspapers have tried to balance a bit, but much remains to be seen.
It is actually a fact that sometimes attempts for assassination comes from people who are in support, not the against one.
They could either harbor some idealistic image, unrealistic expectations and some selfish motive.
Some could even have a psychological condition.
And well, conspiracy factor cannot be ruled out altogether.

It is such a shame that people seem to be so incapable of mature thoughts now.

It just shows that what I though finally happened someone finally could not take Trump any longer, However, from what I read it was supposedly more of some kind of warning than a direct hit because they said that if they had really wanted to shoot Trump they would have been able to,

A reasonable way of stopping someone from becoming a president is to vote for the other person. Killing people does not solve any problem.

You're right in that good news doesn't sell. I've just about had enough of reading about this event too.

This attempt will garner Trump many more sympathy votes. Have a good week.
