Are there any penpals around?

I have always been fascinated by penpals. I just had one that was quite a few years ago. Now we aren't in touch. But, I am very interested in having a few once again. Is there any way that can happen? How can I manifest penpals in my life again?

No, there are loads of sites on the internet and most are not for prisoners! I used to get lots of letters from prisoners myself but I just ignored those ones!

Why? Why for prisoners only? Can't we, I mean anyone for that matter, be penpals?

@sharonelton Oh good. So you got letters physically? I mean hard copies of hand written letters?

That's wonderful to hear your interest in penpals! Reconnecting with that joy sounds exciting. It's a great way to meet new people and revive that penpal experience. Best of luck on your penpal journey!

Thank you for taking so much interest and wishing me. I hope to find new friends. If I get any from here, what's better than that?

@annierose Hahaha... That's what I am doing these days. I've been more active here for the past 8 days then before. Also, I'm spending more online time here then anywhere else. It's fun and learning at the same time.

I think interacting on forums is in a way as good as having penfriends.

Definitely yes. I do agree. But it doesn't have the excitement of writing a physical letter to anyone. The enthusiasm and joy of commutating on that fashion is unmatched. Today's electronic means of communication cannot have that feeling. Just saying! My perspective!!

I remember having penpals back in the 60s. Haven't written a letter in decades. I do send greeting cards though. Have a good day and good luck finding a penpal.

I find writing physical letters more exciting these days. Though online messaging is so fast and simple. It's not exciting. The feelings are in the words and on paper. Not on mobile phones. I'm trying to find penpals whom I can write and send a letter written on paper. Otherwise, we are communicating even in this way. But I'll use it for my other works and for finding everlasting friends.

In a way, I have always thought of sites like this as sort of an electronic hybrid of the idea of having penpals. We all talk to each other, from all walks of life and different parts of the world. The only difference is we can do that more quickly and don't have to use pen and paper and postage stamps.

Exactly. That's what we are currently doing. But it's always good to visit our good old days. And that's why we need a pen and paper to communicate with each other. Today's electronic media will never match the communication we used to do when today's technology didn't exist. Those days were really exciting.

I was fascinated by the concept of penpals , during my childhood. I did see a few notes shared in youth magazines by penpals back then . Perhaps , scared or the fear of unknown , did not try to be a penpal or seek one. I feel, should have tried but then opportunities often do not last long . I guess with advent of internet , chatrooms and websites, penpals lost the touch . Well, I did play christmaspal in school (pal for 2 weeks before Xmas and then exchange gifts)!

When an opportunity is lost it seems bigger than before. Because we no longer can grab it. And the sad feeling of having lost it gives it that bigger feeling. However opportunity can knock twice. And you are among many pals at this moment. If you search around you can still find one, as I am searching and I am sure I will also find one.
