The judge has dismissed the Trump Mar-a-Lago documents case

Judge Aileen Cannon is a Trump appointee. She has been slow-walking the documents case with pointless hearings and delays in making rulings. The idea is to slow the case so Trump won't go to trial before the election. Presumably if he wins he could order the Department of Justice to drop the case. Well this morning Judge Cannon dismissed the case saying that Special Prosecutor Jack Smith was illegitimately appointed by DOJ rather than being appointed and confirmed by Congress. Of course Smith will appeal this decision to the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. They've been hard on some of her rulings so this may be the issue that finally gets her bounced from the case and it reassigned to a different judge. We shall see. What I find odd, though, is that she ruled that the Special Counsel's appointment is illegal. What about Robert Mueller? What about Robert Hur? What about the guy prosecuting Hunter Biden? Wouldn't they be illegitimate too?

Only when it applies to Democrats getting their way. If the tables were turned and the case was decided to go forward by a Democrat appointed judge, of COURSE that would be the ONLY thing that would define "fair." Just like when Hur decided what Biden did WAS a criminal felony and COULD be convicted but decided Biden could not be afforded a fair trial. Of COURSE the Democrats thought THAT was fair because, well...it was decided in their favor. The same people who cry, "No one is above the law," are fine with someone being above the law just so long as it's not Donald J. Trump.

@porwest In my country political corruption is now installed. It is a shame. It comes from both sides so real politics is beside the point. Both sides want to get money (not "earn" money). I am very much ashamed but they arenĀ“t.

@marguicha Politics is politics. It's always been a bit of a dirty business. But I will admit it seems to have become quite a bit dirtier these days. Believe it or not, Trump's popularity is PARTLY due to the fact that he is a strong advocate of cleaning it up. Probably another reason he is the target he is for the Democrats. They know damn well he can do it. Trump has said multiple times he wants to give the government back to the People, and the LAST thing the establishment wants is for that to happen and for them to lose their power.

@sallypup I think she is hoping for a judicial promotion if Trump wins.

There seems little doubt that Trump with Triumph. Not much difference in those two words. It's a wonder they're not using it as a slogan.

I guess it would be better to put someone on the case who hates Trump and doesn't care about the law just to get a conviction on a case without merit. Sounds like a great idea.

1) The case has merit. 2) It would be better to assign the case to someone who can be impartial.

@porwest In all honesty I don't think a polarizing and well-known figure like Trump could get a fair trial. I found it funny when people in the hush money case said they could be impartial during the voir dire. Like everyone has an opinion on the guy.

@NJChicaa No it doesn't. Stop pretending you care about the law. What Biden did was illegal. Hur said it was. He said he could have taken it to court. He didn't because he didn't think Biden could get a fair trial. Well DUH! Do you REALLY believe Trump can ever get a fair trial? Please.
