Beautiful Scenery

Last week on our drive up north, we drove through some stunningly beautiful areas of our province. The roads were actually built after the rock was cut away for the roads. This is part of the Canadian Shield, and very little grows on rock. Some scrub trees and not alot more. But very beautiful to look at from the highway, what do you think? ~Photo is mine

It is so lovely, and makes for such a scenic drive. The rocks are all different shapes, sizes, heights and colours.

@Juliaacv I used to collect rocks, for our last two homes.

@kobesbuddy We did as well. We kind of inherited alot of them. Friends of ours collected alot of them when they were younger. They gave them to us. We used them to line the flower bed alongside the driveway as well as the beds in front of the house.

@Juliaacv sort of like when I lived in NY the highway to the country the Catskill Mountains had rock and cliffs along the way and also forests. I always enjoyed that. Then returning to the city when you got close to NYC it was like Emerald City popping up after all that nature

Amazing how they construct roads and all that goes into that. I am watching a young man on YouTube who is a junk picker. He lives in Pennsylvania. I enjoy the show but I also enjoy the background. He goes down these country lanes that are just beautiful. Trees on either side and just lovely areas.

@Juliaacv .......That reminds me of an area in the Redwoods. Those trees are so huge and some canopied the road. At one point we broke out into an area where there was a pasture full of deer. It was so cool at dusk.

That does sound beautiful. I noted at one point on our drive, we were on an old tree-lined road, and at one point, ahead of us, we could see that the trees on either side of the road met and formed a canopy over the road.

Thanks, it was so lovely to drive along for miles and miles and see this. I love that area for that reason, although I would not want to have to drive it during the winter months, it would be quite dangerous.

Thank you, they are all different colours and shapes. There is a row in some places down the centre between one 2-lane section and the other. No place that you would want to lose control of your vehicle.

This is typical up in that area. The inn/spa that we stayed at on Friday night had rock between the building and the beach.

We have places like this too. It must have been difficult creating some of these roads.

It really allows you to relax as you drive along there, unless it is slippery, that would be nerve wracking.

Thank you, bit by bit I have a few photos to share. We took alot of pictures on the cruise as we went through the locks. That was quite interesting to experience and learn fully about how it works.

Thanks, it is really a beautiful area of our province, and very well known for the rocks everywhere. I spoke with someone from the US recently and she referred to it as the Ontario Rockies.
