I attended 2-day conference. And I gained newfound insights. On the first day, it was about Math and on the second day, it was about reading.Math has modules on Misconceptions on Mathematics, Differentiated Instruction in Mathematics, Constructivism. And I especially like the topic on how teachers can use constructivism in the classroom by using open tasks and parallel tasks.
On the other hand, Reading has 4 modules. They are Phonological awareness, Vocabulary and Oral Reading Fluency, Read Aloud and Listening Comprehension as well as Reading Comprehension. And I learned that learning to read is not a natural process as it is needed to be taught explicitly by using different strategies.I learned from module 1 Phonological awareness that teaching beginning reading can begin from teaching big sounds(Phonological sensivity) to small sounds(Phonemic awareness or phonemes)

This area is part of my job especially teaching High school Math..It is one of the best trainings that I have ever attended..
And now I am taking up a TESOL and it's fun as I finished already the module 1 teaching that culture can be used in teaching English..
