It's okay. The scooter doesn't belong to us.

We have stayed in touch for quite a few years with a couch-surfer friend. She stayed in Donnybrook at a hostel so she’d have transport to the various orchards where she was working but she came to stay with us at weekends. She loves the heat and has a house in Darwin. At the moment, she has rented a room in Perth and is a FIFO worker (fly in, fly out) on an isolated mine site. She has bought an EScooter to use in Perth and had it delivered to us because she is only in Perth six days out of fourteen. The scooter arrived yesterday and Vince put it together this morning and tested it. He only rode it up and down the street once so please don’t pick on him for not having a helmet. The first photo shows how it can fold down, able to be taken on a bus or train. The second shows Vince test-driving it.

I want to have that scooter. That is nice that Vince put it together for her.

She is on sick leave at the moment as she got something in her eye. She might pick it up in a day or two.

It doesn't really hurt us to help and she doesn't seem to have anyone else to call on. She is very 'Germanic' - forceful and a bit hard to understand although she has been in Australia for years. She doesn't seem to have many friends.

Within the village the roads are very quiet so it was a good place to try out the scooter.

It looks easy to operate. I like that it folds up for easy storage.

She wanted it to fold up so she can take it on the bus or train but it's very heavy. I think it would weigh more than she does.

E-scooters are quite the thing over here. Not sure I'd use one myself

There's no protecton if you come off. They buzz up and down the footpath on the side street. If we happened to step out of our gates as they went past we'd be flattened - and they wouldn't come off too lightly either.

@JudyEv Yes, the people using them seem particularly indifferent to everyone else out there!

I hope it works out for her. I once had one of those fell off it, and skinned my knee pretty well. I prefer the sit down kind.

I won't be even trying it. My balance isn't good enough. Vince only went a short distance and was happy to get off it.

So Vince wasn't racing up and down any streets? If I were leaning forward like he is I'd fall flat on my nose.

He just went up and down the road outside the house. It was within the village area so virtually no cars around.

It does look nice but she is very fussy so I hope she is happy with it. We had to keep the packaging in case she wants to return it.

In the end, it didn't need any tools to assemble. It went together very easily.

She is hoping to take it on the bus or train if she needs to but it's very heavy.
