Monopoly? Risk? Or Bridge? What were your favorites?

In my family, we played Monopoly when I was a kid. I was a monster and would DESTROY you with my Oranges and Yellows. Boardwalk and Park Place were my pretties only at the end, when I knocked you out of the game. I had captured them a few moves before, when Ally had landed on Marvin Gardens after getting out of Jail. Later, we graduated to Bridge, which I have not played in years. I enjoyed the "teamwork" aspect, but never got to know the nuances beyond the "Blackwood Convention," which I can barely remember. What were your favorite board games and card games when you were growing up?

Hands down it was always Monopoly. I enjoyed the business aspect of it and of course, building massive amounts of fantasy wealth. lol

I liked the humor of things like "You have won second prize in a beauty contest."

@porwest It would have been fun to be the people who sat around making up that game. I think it was created during the Depression.

I love any word games; and Scrabble was a favorite. My now SIL and I played Pinochle all the time. I can't remember how to play now. We also had a game called 99. Have a good day.

Because of my sort attention span and limited reading, I am not very good at Scrabble. Also because we just didn't play that one much at home. I don't know many of those tiny words.

@TheHorse My husband doesn't like to play games at all; so I play them on the computer.

@wolfgirl569 Heh. I scoffed at the purples and light blues.

Monopoly drives me to distraction. I just find it boring but Vince enjoys it although we never play it nowadays. Our son has introduced us to a lot of the modern board games, some of which I play online.
