My most enjoyable music moment from today. And yes, I survived the gig.

Our gig was a big success this evening. We got lots of positive feedback, and I made some money to deposit at 5.3 percent. But my most satisfying musical moments today occurred as my teenage student, Matt, and I worked out a song by a local pop band called Green Day. Have you heard of them? We worked out the chord changes, and I wrote out a lead for him in musical notation called "tabulature," or "tab." By the time our lesson was done, we had an almost "performance worthy" version of the song ready. I'll leave it at that. A good Thursday. I will relax tomorrow.

One of my favorite Green Day songs. In fact, I did a pretty complete cover of it 20 years ago. Did I do it any justice?

Sounds good to me. At least you sing on key. I have performed with people who do not.

@TheHorse Not always. Of course it depends on the song, and Armstrong is pretty much well within my range. My DAW is offering an upgrade for about $90 which includes Melodyne, which is basically an autotune software pack, and I have thought about getting it just to play around with a bit. If for no other reason than curiosity. I always feel like singing is my worst talent, but I go for it as best I can. lol Speaking of DAWs, have you looked into getting one at all?

That's a sad, lonely song. I'm glad you did well at the gig last night and earned some money.

I'm just glad that I had heard it. It made it easier for me to teach it it my student. The chord progression is pretty straightforward.

@just4him It is incredible to me how much music, from various genres, is based on the same chord progressions.

So nice to hear that your gig was a big success. That 5.3 percent is a good one. I have heard of Green Day but never heard them perform. That's a rather sad song they sing. Too bad about the car.

The one up this morning is me in the studio, helping a friend with her album. I have NO idea how many copies she's sold. We were in a band together, but I had to quit because she was over-scheduling us like crazy. She covered a song I wrote on her album. I'll send it to you you if you want. I like her version. But I like mine better.

Here's us doing a song together in a band she led. I sing lead on this song.

@LindaOHio Heh. Thanks. I rarely "smile for the camera." When I take photos of kids, I like to capture them "doing what they do," not smiling for the camera.
