Things happened-- but I am determined today!

July 19, 2024 4:34am CST
Good morning! Things happened that were unavoidable and now I HAVE to do laundry as I barely had any clothes or towels. So the goal that I am determined to complete two loads of laundry today. Doing the laundry scares me as the washing machine makes so many weird noises. My peer, who has helped me with the wash, says those noises are part of the washing machine cycle Please wish me luck. on my end of the deal of doing laundry, I will be praying that it all goes okay. I think I will text my sis and see what she thinks about me doing do you have to do laundry or do you keep up with it?

Thank you! I have the first load in the dryer right now! I made sure to make sure I put my jammies in the first load in case I didn't do more. I haven't had clean jammies for a few months I can't do laundry every week as for a while we have been having heat indices of up to 104 degrees. I figure my town isn't going to care for me if I cause a townwide blackout because I have to do my laundry! I admire you for doing your laundry once a week. my anxiety gets the best of me sometimes. I want to do it weekly starting in the lat fall when it gets cooler

@LovesEverybody I'm glad you put your jammies in the first load. I hope you can do it more often when it gets cooler.

@just4him My jammies and the clothes my sister put in the washing machine for me when she offered to take my hamper down last week are washed and waiting on my parents' bed for me to use. I usually put my laundry on what was my parent's bed and used them from there when I needed them. however, I am in such a good mood that I may be wild and go against all that I usually do and put everything I wash away. I too hope to do them more often when it gets cooler. This hot weather is making my anxiety very bad. I will be thanking God extra when the weather gets cool. it is very unheard of to get so much 90+ degrees weather around here!

I raised a pack of kids and did the laundry for the grandparents as well. Kids on ball teams, so uniforms for that, cheerleading uniforms, etc...the washer ran every day for years and years. I do not have months and months worth of clothing, it has to be done on a regular basis. Plus, I hate having dirty clothes sit around, I want them clean...so I probably do my laundry more often than most people do.

@LovesEverybody It's always good to keep it all caught up, at least it is for me.

@MarieCoyle You encouraged me! I am trying to keep up with most things! I wrote out a detailed to-do list and it is meant to remind me to do things I sometimes forget or don't get around to doing. I have to make another list now for tomorrow. I am almost finished with today's list. I will start to do laundry weekly whenever it gets cooler. I used to do it frequently before this horrible heat. Last year we didn't have endless heat and thunderstorms- both of which I am petrified of

I understand. In my house, it is just my cat and me. so we don't have a lot of laundry- it is just because we have gone so long without doing it that we suddenly have to do so much of it. For a while I was afraid and then we weren't sure if the dryer was broken or not we plan on doing laundry on the next decent day. I could probably do two more loads When my sister was in her teens I assume somebody had to wash her McDonald's uniform and she spent four years of her high school years being a cheerleader so Mommy had a lot I did two loads yesterday so I should have enough clothes, towels, my jammies with pants, and nightgowns for a while as that is what I washed yesterday. I picked out what I thought I needed to wash I washed things i had forgotten I owned!

I hope the laundry goes smoothly for you! Those machine noises are probably just part of the cycle, but it's always good to check. Good luck with your loads today!

@annierose I nodded off because of my medicine, but when I woke up the dryer was off and my first load of laundry was done! I got the clothes out of the dryer and put another load in the washing machine. That will probably be it for a while as it is supposed to get too hot this weekend to use the amount of electricity I imagine the washing machine and dryer use to run I have not been sleeping in my jammies lately, as they had been dirty so I put them in the first load to guarantee I got them washed so I can sleep in them tonight! I can't wait to go to sleep tonight!

Mostly I manage to keep up with the laundry. When I'm in scary situations I say to myself 'this time to tomorrow this will all be over'. I think this distracts me and I start thinking about where I'll be next day. I hope you're able to do your laundry without any problems. Washing machines do make all sorts of noises sometimes.

I want to thank you so much! Saying "This time tomorrow this will all be over" I love it. I love distractions. Sadly I forgot to practice them lately I didn't have enough time to do all my laundry as it got too late. However, I have two loads done, which are the clothes and jammies I plan to wear, and the towels for the kitchen and bathroom. I picked out each thing I wanted to wash yesterday. I don't know if I washed any washcloths to take baths! I just realized that!

@LovesEverybody I do run the washer in the time a day where the power isn't in high demand.

@paigea I read various people saying that they wash clothes when electricity is not in as much demand. I love that idea. but I have no idea when that is or how to find out. Does your electric company put that on its website or something like that?

I used to do that until the weather became wild and I developed weather phobias and they became a major problem for me.

The same is true for me: I have to do my own laundry as I live almost alone- I live with my cat but still I have to do the daily chores. My cat watches me do chores

Girl, do not worry about the washing machine and the noises it makes. The one I use - I “swear” - sounds like a ghost is in it. All it is, is an old machine. Kind of like a creaking floor in an old house. You’ve got this.

Mine is over 20 years old. I somehow expected it to age well I sometimes run down the steps expecting to see the basement flooded. My floors and walls creak thank you so much for the encouragement and when it gets a little lighter I will put the first load in.
