Half Timbered Car

Spotted this car, on a low loader, not far from home. At first I thought it was a Morris Traveller, which I remember from the 1960s, when I was a youngster. In the few minutes it took me to get home, I decided that this car was bigger than a Traveller and I was pretty sure the steering wheel was on the left side. After an internet search I decided that it was actually a Pontiac Chieftain, made between 1949 and 1958. Although a long way from home, it is an excellent looking condition, right down to the white wall tyres. Very 1950s! It had continued on its journey by the afternoon, so no chance to get more photos. I am thinking it is a classic car, pretty sure it isn’t old enough to be a vintage.

I am wondering if this is how it gets about on the road! Driven by its own chauffeur.

Not being a car person, I'd never heard of a Chieftain, if indeed that is what it is. Surprised at ho good a nick it is in, considering it has been in damp old Uk

I suspect it is a bit of gas guzzler, but still an impressive beastie

I associate these (timbered cars) with Britain for some reason. I guess I've seen them in photos and old films. It does look good. It would be somebody's pride and joy.
