July 20th is a Special Day

For whatever reason, years ago I decided to remember at least two dates. The date of my wife and I's first date, and of course our marriage anniversary date. For us, our first date was on July 20, 2005. So, that makes 19 years together. Usually, I like to try to do something special on this day. Nothing too fancy or elaborate, of course. That's reserved for our real anniversary which is May 19th. We were married in 2007. Maybe sometimes I will record a little song for her. Other times I may write a short poem. Sometimes it's just a dinner out. This time I decided to make a short video and post it on Facebook. Nothing fancy or over the top. Just a fun little video, and I thought I would share it here.

That's a very sweet video. I saw it on FB too. Our first date was October 1, 1966. That's why we were married on October 3, 1970. Have a terrific day.

That's a very long time to be married. But then, when you find the right one, how can a marriage not last? Even in the most trying of times, there are certain bonds that are just unbreakable. Hopefully you will be celebrating your 54th with hubby at home. Fingers crossed, and thanks about the video. Nothing fancy, but wifey liked it, so that's all that matters.

That's very cute. Very lovely indeed. I don't remember the date of our first date but I do remember our wedding date.

Most people don't. For some reason I made it a point to remember it and have never forgotten it.

Never. It was such a simple date. Just a quick lunch. I was actually (typical guy) ready to go. Not that the date didn't go well. It was just a date and I didn't expect much, especially not on the first one. We had a pleasant time, I thought she was cute, I liked her laugh and her green eyes. I definitely knew there would be a second one for sure if she was willing to say yes to it. She had mentioned something about miniature golf and there was one nearby on Hwy 100 and Layton. "That sounds like fun," I said. "We should do that sometime." "They are open now," she said, and it suddenly dawned on me that the date was not over yet. lol

I think of my "first" dates with gentlemen and how excited I was when they asked me out. And then when we went on a second date and more. The first date is always special and when you marry the man you went on the first date with it is really a diamond moment in time. It does a lady's heart so much good that her husband remembers the first date, and remembers it somehow to remind her how special she is to him and how special that date was. Thank you for sharing the video and the date!!! I had to wipe the tears from my eyes, the video is great!!!! Happy first date anniversary!

Wow! That's a lovely gesture. Your first date surely goes down the history with the other important dates that you have chosen for your video.. I am sure that she would just love it.

She did. It brought a little smile to her face which is worth its weight in gold.

Any thing you do for your spouse to make her feel special is the sweetest thing a man can do for his wife, no matter what it is, every now & then mine does something that makes me thanking god he sent him to me.

She always thinks I will forget. But I rarely do. You're right, it's these little subtle reminders that offer a little break from the monotony of life and marriage and say, "Through it all and no matter what every other day is like, I am glad to share it with you."
