I learned my lesson the hard way

I should have known better, but I had to know if I could do it or not & let me tell you what, it was a lesson I'll never do EVER again. I went without my insulin for a full week & O M G ! ! ! I won't do that cause as time went on I kept getting weaker & sicker day by day & I took my sugar test & it was OFF the charts "HI" so today I started back up my insulin with the fast acting 1st to get it back down again. Today, (Sunday) I'll be using Both the fast & slow acting insulin to get it back in place again so I can get my strength back like I need cause there for awhile around noon, I was so lifeless it wasn't funny. ALL I wanted to do is SLEEP & I didn't feel like eating & just felt so worn out even after not doing anything but just getting up in the morns I promise you I have learned my lesson this time 4-REAL. So all I can say is if you THINK you can do without your meds DON'T do what I did & try it cause it can SURE make things a lot worse than you think it can, So yeah this is going to be a life long lesson learned.

Some people learn the hard way. I'm glad you learned the lesson before it landed you in the hospital.

I am too, you know there's times we have to learn things the hard way & trust in God to see you through it, & thank god he was there.

I do too but it looks like it's going to be a long road ahead for me to get ALL my strength back like I USE to have but after coming out of the hosp, I ended up with T-2 D & that's the 1 battle I'm trying to work through 1 day at a time.

I don't think of insulin as any other med, it's a hormone the body needs to handle blood sugar so it's definitely dangerous to skip doses unless you constantly check your blood sugar. You were lucky to catch the hyperglycemia on time because that can even lead to diabetic coma. Hope you'll get better soon.

@2ndchances24 There might be ways to decrease your insulin intake but that would probably require special diet and exercise, and it'd help to ask a doctor or a specialist for a plan. But I guess you still need to carry insulin the way a person with allergies carries an epipen.

@sabtraversa That's what I'm thinking, that's why I need to get the cabin done so I can get started on it as soon as I can, I have everything I need on my desktop where till I get where I can get it set back up I'm pretty well stuck in the trailer till then.

I tend to look at it this way. While doctors are humans just like you and I are, they still have the education to at least know WAY more about the human body and our health needs than we do. So, I tend to listen.

That was a very dangerous thing to do. In fact, it could have been fatal . Medicines are not something we can afford to miss or play with , especially when we have a problem. Again, we should be healthy and work towards same. Rest of things including finance can then be put to place. So, please do take care of your health. Please do have your insulin and medicines. Follow the diet plan and exercise as that is the only way to beat diabetics.
