Do You Like To Fish?

United States

When we first moved to Mississippi, one of the things people like to do was go fishing. I went with a of ladies once. It was in a cool dark area. I could never get used to baiting the hook. But it was enjoyable. I enjoyed the peace and quiet of being around that pond. The weather has changed so much, I don't think people can stand the heat now. But I enjoyed it, and watching them. So do you like fishing?

I used to love fishing as a kid. I fished every chance I could get, both freshwater and saltwater. When I got married, I even got my wife into fishing. But then life happened (had kids, promotions at work, etc), and soon there wasn't as much time for fishing. I would have to say that I probably haven't been fishing in 20 years, but I do remember taking my son fishing when he was young.

@popciclecold I do miss fishing sometimes. I always loved just sitting out on the water in silence with nothing but me and my thoughts and those sneaky fish under the water. People say fishing is boring and a waste of time, but I always thought it was a great time to reflect and contemplate on the things of life. Plus, it was super exciting when you finally got that bite on your hook!

@popciclecold Totally agreed. Change is constant, and we just have to accept that change is the only permanent thing in the world. We just have to hope that changes around us is for the betterment of all of us.

When I was younger I did. Did not like baiting hooks, either, but enjoyed the still quietness.

Good, I went the one time and enjoyed immensely. At the time, I had no idea about watching for snakes. Reason I hadn't been back.

I have never actually been fishing. But my aunts husband bought me a pink fishing pole as a kid/preteen and I liked looking at it lol. We got rid of it I guess, cuz I don't have it and haven't in over a decade or two.

This is a bit of a loaded question. Yes and no would be my answer. The thing is, if I could catch more fish, I would probably enjoy it more. But I am not a good fisherman, and if I am fishing, I want a meal. So, it's not something I do often at all and it has probably been more than 5-7 years since the last time I did it.

Yes, but I don't like to buy bait. There are some big fish in the lake, but I have only caught small ones.

That sounds lovely! I can totally relate to the peaceful vibe of fishing, even if baiting the hook isn’t everyone’s favorite part. It’s great that you enjoyed the experience and the company. I do like fishing myself, though I haven’t had the chance to go recently. There’s something so calming about being by the water. Do you have any other favorite outdoor activities?

I know some people that would go, and if they didn't get a bite in 15 minutes, they would find another place to fish.
