Is Kitty testing my love and devotion? Or my health?

Obviously, Kitty can tell I'm injured. "Lower" animals must have it in their viscera to know when a protector can no longer protest them. Or when a dying gazelle will make an easy snack, but not not taste as good as a younger gazelle. Kitty has been eating her food, going out on the balcony, jumping up on the railing, jumping down to the front door, and meowing to be let in. She has always done this. But she has been doing this repeatedly in the last new days. I let her in once or twice. Then I tell her to "deal with it." I am not a cat person. What is your interpretation of her antics?

She knows that you're injured and to fix it is to not let it get stiff.

I did not know you were injured. When did this happen, and what sort of injury? I think cats and dogs can tell when their masters are sick or hurt. They don't know how to solve the problem but they definitely want to fetch others to help you. They keep checking if you are getting worse, so that they can disturb the neighbors and bring them over. I think they are capable of getting neighbors attention. The frequency is a sign of anxiety in her. The stray dogs that I feed. They follow me around I have to shoo them at times. It looks so weird on the road when five dogs are following you.

@BearArtistLady Feeding animals is such fun. There are stray lambs here. They try to eat off leaves from some plants. The younger ones can squeeze in to eat smaller ones. The grown ups are left starving, so I reach out to those plants and pluck and feed them. They are so trusting...isn't it?

My two "brats" know that I'm not doing too well. I've been having stomach issues and they hover around me constantly. I may not always see them, but they are close by. Right now Freya the Siamese is on top of the refrigerator and Petey the ginger tabby is on the floor by the window stretched out where it's cooler. If I have some sort of problem Freya gets on her perch and meows like crazy to get the neighbor's attention. When I lived out in the woods it would look really weird when I would take a walk and have ten deer following me hoping for their hand out of bread. I always would buy 10 or 20 loaves of bread at the day old bread store for the deer. The people that ran the store would always save the older loaves for me and give me a bunch of them for the deer too. My Subaru station wagon's rear end was full of bread when I headed home. I got quite a laugh from one of my neighbors who posted on the neighborhood discussion line a picture of her dog carrying home a rack of ribs that he has swiped from one of the neighbor's barbeques. The lady apologized profusely and stated she didn't know where they came from, but she would be happy to replace the rack if the person would contact her. It had to be a surprise for both the barbeque'r and the dog owner

@vandana7 I have some pictures of the deer eating the slices of bread. They got to the point where they would come up to me and stand there and take the slices from my hand and stand there and eat them and patiently wait for me to hand them the next slice. Some of them would even let me pet them. The neighbors were in awe.

By the way, Horse, you don't own a cat, they own you! In a way it's easier to relate to a cat if you look at it like a partnership or, a marriage. You are there for each other and you are there to love each other. If the love and caring wasn't there on Kitty's part she would have found a different home long ago. I notice it with both Petey and Freya. Petey lets me know when it's time to get up and he nags me until I give up and do. Freya comes and lays in my lap first thing in the morning for her love session and expects some loving when I come close by. There is a lot of non-verbal communication between us and a lot of love and respect shown too. The one thing that has NEVER happened is I have never struck either of them with my hand or a newspaper or anything else. I will sternly tell them no and that usually does the trick. In fact I've never hit any of my animals through the years, they can tell by my voice when they have done something wrong and they don't do it again.

@TheHorse You don't seem like a person who would. One thing you might do for me is tell Kitty how beautiful she is. They love that!!!! My pair go absolutely limp with their purrs when I tell them that they are handsome and beautiful, and that I love them totally. My problem is that when it's first thing in the morning it's hard to get them out of my lap. If you want to have some real fun, get Kitty some "kitty pot" (catnip). My pair love the stuff and roll in it for hours. Give kitty some extra loving for me, she deserves it.

I can't agree with your assessment of cats being "Lower" animals. I have two that are extremely intelligent. They know when there is someone leaving a message at my front door and alert me to it, they know when I am looking for a mislaid item and find it and stand over it and alert me to its location, they have let me know when there are problems with what I am cooking, and so much more. I think Kitty is trying to get you up and around a bit more. Even with your not feeling too well you need to get some exercise to keep your body working properly. She is using the outside bathroom, but also wants to be close by if you need any kind of medical help, she can raise the kind of ruckus that will attract attention to what you need. All critters (dogs, cats, birds etc.) have that ability. Believe it or not, Kitty has a deep love for you, otherwise she wouldn't keep coming back to the front door to be let in. If she didn't, she would find another home. Shoot, Petey and Freya are both rescues. Petey having been dumped out in the wilds and I couldn't leave him there when I moved into town. Freya was a supposed year-old cat, and she was skin and bones and barely weighed in at a whopping pound. She was in a fancy home and the lady was feeding her only twice a day and she much have been giving her about two tablespoons of food a day. You wouldn't believe she was the same cat!!! They both are so bonded to me, when I had to spend the night in the hospital, they both sat at the door waiting for me to return. If they weren't by the door, they were in the window watching. My neighbor tried to comfort them, but they would have none of it. As the neighbor said, "they wanted their Mama!!!!" Kitty comes to the door to be let in so she can be there to take care of you. You are "HER" human and that is her job, to take care of you and to comfort you while you are laid up. She isn't a "Lower" animal, she is a caring, loving, creature that isn't in a human suit. Just because she isn't built like a human doesn't mean she is stupid by a long shot!!!

She is letting you know what ails you will pass and not to dwell on it. I had a painful left shoulder which probably happened when I sweated overnight and the fan blew on it/ Tish could not have known about my painful shoulder yet she got on bed with me and lay down right on my shoulder, Sure with the heat outside it was not good but she knew to keep it warm in her own way, When I have felt really low or not so good I lay down and Freddie comes on the bed with me and at one time put his paw over my hand. He let me know he was there for me,
