"So, I had a job once at Dollar General," a friend said to me during a conversation.
"Interesting. How did that go?" I asked him.
"I got in there and organized all the shelves. I made sure clothes were neatly folded and things were all in their proper place, and the price labels matched the product that was there. If something was in a box or a tote, I put it where it belonged."
"Nice. And?" I pressed him further.
"I got out the mop bucket and cleaned the floors. I made sure there was no dust on anything that had been unsold for a while. I made sure aisles could easily accept people and carts."
"Wow, that's awesome," I said. "So, what happened?"
"They fired me for not adhering to standard business practices."

I don't shop at the Dollar stores so I guess that their stores are always haphazard? Have a good day.

@LindaOHio You would think at the bare minimum that would be the case. Unfortunately, it's not. lol

You'd have to understand the going joke surrounding the condition of Dollar General stores in the United States. Every store is a cluttered mess. And because every store is a cluttered mess, it has to be their business practice to be that way. If someone goes in to try and clean a store up, as the joke goes, you get fired. lol

Every dollar store I've ever been in looks exactly like the one in your photo. But I do ask myself, is the condition of those stores the result of a lack of worker ethic, or the lack of care from the customers? I suspect it is a bit of both.

@porwest It may be policy, or just the type of clientele who shop there. I don't think I have to elaborate much more on that, as you probably know exactly what I mean.

that sounds about right for the course, they fire the 1's
that does a good job & keep the 1's that could care less
it makes a lot of sense.
