Apartment Woes

Ain’t that a kick! I found a note on my door from management Friday afternoon stating pet owners could no longer hang out in common areas of the building with their dogs. These overly excitable, under-45-pound dogs have been peeing everywhere. And to make matters worse, their owners have not cleaned up after them. Our hallways and community room now reek from all that puppy pee. So, since there was no disclaimer regarding service animals included with that notice, I will soon have my guide dog, and I know idiots live among us; I visited the manager this morning. I knew about a month ago that she was on the verge of walking off the job, and now, in record time (after only working here five months), the Delusional One and her (not-so) merry band of misfits have successfully pushed her out the door. If Corporate does not escort her off this or the other property before then, her last day will be Friday. Five managers in just as many years. There is something seriously wrong with this place, and I am confident it is due, in part, to the decades-long friendship between the Delusional one and our maintenance man and his wife. It's sad.

Do you ever feel like you would like to move as well? It cannot be a healthy environment, mentally.

Yes, now and again, I do, but I also refuse to let the Delusional One win.

Living in apts isn't the best of places to live cause all kinds of things go on with them, me & hubby lived in 1 that was really off the wall & I swear to this very day that will NEVER happen again, cause they accused us of being in a gang which was a lie, & did everything in their power to turn every 1 against us.

Yes, they can be tricky places to live, for sure.

@2ndchances24 I'm not fond of apartment living either, but it beats living on the streets.

@Chellezhere I was never 1 for apts in the 1st place but at the time we had to do something but I never expected to be called a gangster.

I read you loud and clear Chelle..I had the very same issues and more..that is why I just moved to a more peaceful apartment. So far so good. I wish you could get away from there. Can't be good for you. I now have trauma syndrome from the last place that will have to be dealt with. I wish I had a good lawyer to sue.

Here's the thing. There is another complex in the village, but there are no patios or balconies, and there are buildings and asphalt all around it. My complex is back off the road, and has deer and other woodland creatures.

Can you tell us more about the Delusional One?

She's my next-door neighbor who, without ever officially meeting (and greeting me, for that matter), told everyone living and working here when I moved in, and everyone who has moved in or began working here since (and their family members) that I am a monster, and that I eavesdrop, spy on, and stalk her daily - none of which is true. I wrote a lot about her on here back in 2022, but purge my discussions periodically, so they are gone now.

@Chellezhere How odd. Does she have mental health issues?

@TheHorse I minored in psychology, so I am a psychologist, but I was unable to take my clinicals, so I cannot practice or charge a fee. Still, she displays characteristics of delusional disorder and narcissism. Plus, she had a sleeve gastrectomy about 18 months ago, and her misbehavior has worsened since.

The joys of renting, I guess. At the same time, having been a landlord myself for 20+ years in a former life, I have to say, there are always two sides to every story. I can't tell you how many more bad tenants I ever had than good ones, and they cost me a fortune. lol

And, I can't tell you how many potential landlords I have refused to rent from because their mindset was "every tenant's bad." They'll think I love the place and am ready to sign the least right then and there, and that is when I walk away, letting them know I would never rent from someone who enters into the deal with the mindset that I will be a problem or my pet will be destructive.

I do not get my fellow dog owners who refuse to do right by, well, everybody. This is going to be such a pain for you with that awful, nosy lady!

She's in for a rude awakening if she or her friends try to start trouble with my guide dog.

It sees managers of those housing developments have a tough job.

Yes, this is a complex for the disabled of any age and seniors age 62 and older, but it is not a nursing home or assisted living. It's independent living, so Corporate has them convinced ADA and Fair Housing violations are not ADA and Fair Housing violations, but police matters instead. That is part of what I am fighting.

It can't include support animals but you are right that some will think it does.

It does not include service animals, but some residents will still fuss - which is why I will make it a point to sit in the community room with my guide dog for at least an hour each day.

That is a sad testament to the corporate office, that they can't see what truly is going on. Good luck with your guide dog.

Guide dogs are exempt from this new rule, but some residents don't and won't accept that.
