I Won't Do That Again

I had never used my own elderberries until today. I will never do it again. I have enough picked and off the stems now. But I am not cooking them down tonight. I have them in the freezer and will do that Wednesday. I will pick the rest for the auction. I will just put them in plastic bags that I have so I don't have the expense of the boxes. And they might sell better this time. I did sweep another area in the spare bedroom but didn't get it mopped. I can do that another day. I am too tired after doing the elderberries. I have 2 bags of hot peppers picked for tomorrow. Hope they do good. I will check my lunch box peppers tomorrow. They might be ready. I see baby green beans starting on my plants now so canning those will be soon. Hope you had a good day.

Wow, you grow your own elderberries - they must grow well there. Why will you never use them again - I assume it's a lot of work! You're having a good harvest of things!

@wolfgirl569 I just looked up what it looked like. I didn't realize they were itty bitty and clustered like that - yah, now I see how it would be too much work!

It took most of the day to get enough off the stems. That's too much work.

Sounds like you had a fun time outside today. Don't know how you're standing it.

I know that elderberries are very labor intensive. Have you tried drying the flowers for tea?

@wolfgirl569 I am sorry. My niece and one of her kids cannot use elderberry products but can use tea made from the flowers to help with their colds.

What made the elderberries not worth picking yourself in the future?

They are very easy. You might be able to find some starts growing along a trail even. I am constantly cutting suckers with the weed whacker around these. I will be cutting them way back when the berries are done

They still didn't sell for a lot but I didn't spend any money packaging them up this time

I would love to see your garden. My husband's 2nd and 3rd cousins both have gardens this year and probably will give us some veggies. Have a good day.
