Not what I expected

I am back from my day trip. I took two pain pills first thing. My seat mate on the bus was a chatty lady. Very social. She pretty much Mother Henned me. Everyone but me headed out on a boat tour of large Lake Quinault. Warm summer day so I really didn't need my light jacket. I found a trail. There was moss on the trees but not hanging and as much as I remembered. The trail tested me. It was an uphill trail. I could feel that I was shaky from another night of poor sleep. I could also feel that physical therapy has made my legs stronger- very much needed when you are staying upright on a narrow trail that has roots and rocks in unexpected places. Once I was up a slope, yup, I had to have the ability to go back down safely. I found a rustic log bench at the top of the first upward climbs. After some mosquito swatting and writing in my journal I again headed further up the trail untl I came to some tree limbs over the path. I knew I didn't have the needed balance to get over those limbs then go downwards over them on the return so I said enough! I had a grand encounter with a crow while I was on the trail. I love animal interactions, whatever stripe the animal happens to be. I also walked the steep way down to the large lake, watched folks step into canoes though the lake waves appeared fierce to me. I walked along a stretch of a sweet path by the lake before I huffed and puffed back up to the lodge. By that time I knew the tour bus would be waiting. I haven't grabbed hold of any form of a trail like this one in years. I'm grateful I was able to go for it. I'm grateful my legs held up- ate four pain pills by afternoon but oh well. I'm grateful for the crow. He gobbled the cheese that I tossed down.

Good for you. It would have been good for you to get away from the house for a while.

@JudyEv I know how you feel though my town lot is nice sized. I hope you can do some more house-animal sitting.
