When a group of friends receives unexpected invitations to a dinner party, they see it as a chance to finally meet the bizarre and reclusive new neighbor whose home is enshrouded in layers of security. As the drinks are poured and dinner is served, the group begins to realize things are not what they seem. What starts out as an innocent night of fun soon becomes a seemingly calculated game filled with cryptic messages and chilling revelations. With no way out, the guests are forced to play along in hopes of escape. Friendships fray, loyalties are tested, and the secrets they've kept from each other are revealed one by one. ~~~~ This story is a game of Escape Room personified. The houseguests are left to follow clues which they feel will get them out of the house. In fact, some people involved in creating this night actually think they are only creating an Escape Room trial run. There are messages and clues, but then people disappear. Something from their teenhood has come back to haunt them. But none knows what the others' secrets are. The only way they will actually get out of the house is by revealing their secrets to each other. This part I felt I have read in another story. I also felt the end left me flat. Other than that it was a good thriller story worthy of 4 stars. Not only does Kiersten Modglin write great thrillers, she writes short chapters and not too lengthy books which make for easy reading. I have 4 more of her books on my shelf which I can't wait to read.

This does sound pretty thrilling. The last book I read was really, really thick so it took me a while to get through it.

Some thrillers are quite thick. I think fantasy books are the thickest books, but I don't read fantasy.
