Day 190 – Various Laws Deuteronomy 24:5 “When a man takes a new wife, he will not go out to war or charged with any business; he will be free at home one year, and bring happiness to his wife whom he has taken. 6 “No man will take the lower or the upper millstone in pledge, for he takes one’s living in pledge. 7 “If a man kidnaps any of his brethren of the children of Israel, and mistreats him or sells him, then the kidnapper will die; and you will put away the evil from among you. 8 “Take heed in an outbreak of leprosy, that you carefully observe and do according to everything the priests, the Levites, will teach you; just as I commanded them, so you will be careful to do. 9 Remember what JEHOVAH your Elohiym did to Miriam on the way when you came out of Egypt. 10 “When you lend your brother anything, you will not go into his house to get his pledge. 11 You will stand outside, and the man to whom you lend will bring the pledge out to you. 12 If the man is poor, you will not keep his pledge overnight. 13 You will return the pledge to him again when the sun goes down, so that he may sleep in his own garment and bless you; and it will be righteousness to you before JEHOVAH your Elohiym. 14 “You will not oppress a hired servant who is poor and needy, whether one of your brethren or one of the aliens who is in your land within your gates. 15 Each day you will give him his wages, and not let the sun go down on it, for he is poor and has set his heart on it; lest he cry out against you to JEHOVAH, and it be a sin to you. 16 “Fathers will not be put to death for their children, nor will the children be put to death for their fathers; a person will be put to death for his own sin. 17 “You will not pervert justice due the stranger or the fatherless, nor take a widow’s garment as a pledge. 18 You will remember you were a slave in Egypt, and JEHOVAH your Elohiym redeemed you from there; therefore, I command you to do this thing. 19 “When you reap your harvest in your field, and forget a sheaf in the field, you will not go back to get it; it will be for the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, so that JEHOVAH your Elohiym may bless you in the work of your hands. 20 When you beat your olive trees, you will not go over the boughs again; it will be for the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow. 21 When you gather the grapes of your vineyard, you will not glean it afterward; it will be for the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow. 22 You will remember you were a slave in the land of Egypt; therefore, I command you to do this thing. God’s names: JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal Elohiym – Supreme God Yeshuwa – Jesus Hagios Pneuma – Sacred, Holy, Breath, Spirit God’s character: Holy Just Merciful People find it interesting to search out the various laws for their country that no longer apply because technology and advancement have made the laws obsolete. JEHOVAH’S laws served a purpose that still holds true today. The laws helped the poor, fatherless, and widow to live each day with dignity. They helped soldiers who fought in war time, and they kept the person safe. In these laws, JEHOVAH promised to keep His people safe. Many people argue that the laws Elohiym gave His people no longer apply today, and Christians live under grace not the law. Yet, what laws became obsolete to Christians when they accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord? You have an enemy who seeks to destroy your relationship with Yeshuwa. He does his best to undermine the work Yeshuwa gave you. Satan’s lies don’t sound like lies. They sound like good advice, yet when you take the advice, you believe comes from your reason, you find your relationship hindered and problems arise in everything you do. JEHOVAH’S laws contain promises of His favor and blessings in your life when you do what He directs you. When His people stayed home for a year after they married instead of rushing off to war, Elohiym blessed their marriage. When they treated their brethren fairly in their everyday dealings, Elohiym blessed them. When they didn’t harvest their fields so that the widow, fatherless, and stranger could gather food to eat, Elohiym blessed them. How has Elohiym blessed you when you follow His commonsense laws? You could place these laws under the fruit of the Hagios Pneuma. Galatians 5:16 I say then: Walk in the Pneuma, and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Pneuma, and the Pneuma against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18 However, if you are led by the Pneuma, you are not under the law. 19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 However, the fruit of the Pneuma is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 24 Those who are Christos’, have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Pneuma, let us also walk in the Pneuma. JEHOVAH’S laws helped His people live their lives every day. The same is true for you today. When you allow the Hagios Pneuma to guide your life in everything you do, you will live in the blessing and favor Elohiym wants to give you. Elohiym is merciful in everything He does, in every law He gave His people, and in everything He does in your life. Don’t allow Satan to destroy your relationship with his reason. Allow Yeshuwa and the Hagios Pneuma to guide your life in everything you do. Then you will know JEHOVAH’S blessing in your life. Let’s pray: Father, let me know Your blessing in my life when I follow Your commonsense laws for my life. Don’t let Satan hinder my relationship with You. Let me see through his lies with the help of the Holy Spirit guiding my life. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 26 July 2024 by Valerie Routhieaux The image belongs to me.

As far as completely following the Law, the children of God failed miserable. They tried, but couldn't obtain the place where God was their first love! We are called, as the grafted in believers, to do the exact same thing.

@just4him If God isn't our first love, the rest of our life is off key.

It is a pity that farmers, and husbands, do not follow these laws still today. It would be good if the homeless, were still able to take an apple from an orchard to eat it in their hunger, and if husband and wife spent the first year of their marriage closer together like that too.
