Flooded and Disconnected

The signal on my phone and the power in our area just came back. Unfortunately, my e-bike got submerged in the floodwater. Since we are all women in the house, we had to rely on the kindness of passing men to help lift the e-bike and place it on a higher chair. Despite our efforts to elevate it, even placing it on a chair, the floodwater still reached it. Thankfully, the water didn't reach our store because our dad had it elevated after a previous typhoon washed away all our belongings at home. Determined not to let that happen again, he had the store raised and also added a second floor to our house. For two and a half days, we had no idea what was happening outside because, even though I had a phone, it had no signal. When the signal returned today, I saw numerous missed calls and messages from my fiancé, who had been extremely worried about me. He also tried contacting my siblings, but he couldn't reach any of us because our phones had all run out of battery, and there was no signal. I hope we don't face this situation again, but with it being only July, it's likely that we'll experience more typhoons in the coming months.

Thanks, Rimps. It really is exhausting dealing with these extreme weather conditions year after year. We're doing our best to stay prepared, but it's always a challenge. I'm hoping for a less stormy rest of the year!

@annierose even in India, there's a state which always faces the wrath of natural calamities year after year

Thank you, Sanna! It's such a relief to finally be able to catch up on all the messages and calls. I'm just grateful everyone is safe and that the store was spared this time. I hope we can avoid such situations in the future!
