Is this a scam?

I think it is. So, I get this phone call from this guy - name omitted. He asks if I had ordered this thing that he claims was ordered in my name from Amazon - I'm not saying this is actually Amazon. Now, this object is about what I earn from my retirement in a month, so... obviously I didn't order it. He asks if I have accounts in certain banks, one of which I do have an account in. He then asks about addresses, one of which is my address. Then he wants to transfer me to the Social Security office. No. I tell him I can't do it right now, I will contact them myself later. He pushes back. He really wants to transfer me to Social Security. And, that's when I called scam in my brain. Okay, I was already calling scam, but if I kept him on my phone, he wasn't contacting anyone else - right? Now, the Medicare calls I just tell them to take me off their list. Yeah, they are also a scam, in the end, but this one was way more dangerous. I mean, everything else was bad enough, but offering to send you over to Social Security... This stuff can eff up your life! Has anyone else here, this would be for my U.S. friends, had this happen?

Wow, good of you to have warned. There are quite a few innocents here who could fall prey to such a thing. @TheHorse, for example. I think Coral too is gullible.

No. I catch it long before it gets that far. I'm smarter than that.

Oh, I had suspected it from the start, but if they are talking to me then they aren't talking to another person. Kind of like the scammer I caught back in June of 2022. I can't post the link, that's against the rules.

@ElicBxn Is it to another discussion? Or an unmonitizzed youtube video? You can post those links. But, yeah. Most of the time they hang up on me so I've only wasted a few seconds. Most scammers are hoping to fool people, but the truth is, they aren't trying to hide it.

Yeah, like I said, the minute he said he was with Amazon my brain said - scam - but lets see where this goes. Up until he wanted to send me to Social Security I knew I was pretty safe.

I have a few phone calls from certain government agencies who are phonies asking me for money to pay back taxes that I do not owe at all. I turned them down as false alarms.

I had some clown say I owed the IRS money. I told him he'd have to talk to my CPA. My Brother!

Yeah... on the whole, except for a few things, like 'Healthcare' the cell phone doesn't include names unless you put them into your contacts. So, I do get 'Unknown' for things I want, but mostly not. And, all my doctor contacts are under "D" because I find it easier. Heck, I call my vet's office "Dr. Vet." I used to have it under a different name, but when that vet retired I just took that name out and put in 'Vet.'
