Short story: A brief history of now

The Zen student was confused about what his master meant about living in the now.
The old master smiled widely, as he said to his student:
"Now never exists in the now, because now is not now, but life itself, which is untimed, and always is."
"Now, though, is more just the idea behind life, not that life living, and so now is soul living, not body living."
"Our body lives in time, our soul out of time."
"We have far more than just now, though; we have ourselves, existing for now, and out of now, too."
"Outside of now is us; inside of now is God. When we connect to God, we live in his now, not our now, then too."
The student then said:
"That sounds too complicated. Just make it more simple for me, please."
The master laughed.
"Now is a monkey in a cage, until you see who owns that cage."

Do not live your life as a caged monkey. Free yourself to now living.

@innertalks I noticed that. I get lost in it.

Yes, it is a lot of doublespeak.
I like to delve into the complicated thoughts, though, pushing one thought against another...

Yes, it is better than living in the past, regretting the past, or just living for the future, waiting for it to come, hoping it will be better.
Live now, and enjoy now.

Indeed, we should live in the moment. No point regretting the past, and living for the future because we never know what will happen tomorrow.

Yes, anything could happen tomorrow, and yesterday is finished.
It is better to fully be in the now, taking care of the moment now, than being distracted by the past, or the future.
