Day 193 – Curses
Deuteronomy 27:1 Now Moses, with the elders of Israel, commanded the people, saying, “Keep the commandments which I command you today. 2 It will happen, on the day when you cross over the Jordan to the land which JEHOVAH your Elohiym gives you, that you will set up for yourselves large stones, and whitewash them with lime. 3 You will write on them the words of this law, when you cross over, that you may enter the land which JEHOVAH your Elohiym gives you, ‘a land flowing with milk and honey,’ just as JEHOVAH Elohiym of your fathers promised you. 4 Therefore, it will happen, when you cross over the Jordan, that on Mount Ebal you will set up these stones, which I command you today, and you will whitewash them with lime. 5 There you will build an altar to JEHOVAH your Elohiym, an altar of stones; you will not use an iron tool on them. 6 You will build with whole stones the altar of JEHOVAH your Elohiym and offer burnt offerings on it to JEHOVAH your Elohiym. 7 You will offer peace offerings, and will eat there, and rejoice before JEHOVAH your Elohiym. 8 You will write the words of this law on the stones.”
9 Then Moses and the priests, the Levites, spoke to Israel, saying, “Take heed and listen, O Israel, this day you have become the people of JEHOVAH your Elohiym. 10 Therefore, you will obey the voice of JEHOVAH your Elohiym and observe His commandments and His statutes which I command you today.”
11 Moses commanded the people on the same day, saying, 12 “These will stand on Mount Gerizim to bless the people, when you have crossed over the Jordan: Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Joseph, and Benjamin; 13 and these will stand on Mount Ebal to curse: Reuben, Gad, Asher, Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali. 14 The Levites will speak with a loud voice and say to the men of Israel: 15 ‘Cursed is the one who makes a carved or molded image, an abomination to JEHOVAH, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and sets it up in secret.’ The people will answer and say, ‘Amen!’
16 ‘Cursed is the one who treats his father or his mother with contempt.’ The people will say, ‘Amen!’
17 ‘Cursed is the one who moves his neighbor’s landmark.’ The people will say, ‘Amen!’
18 ‘Cursed is the one who makes the blind to wander off the road.’ The people will say, ‘Amen!’
19 ‘Cursed is the one who perverts the justice due the stranger, the fatherless, and widow.’ The people will say, ‘Amen!’
20 ‘Cursed is the one who lies with his father’s wife, because he uncovers his father’s bed.’ The people will say, ‘Amen!’
21 ‘Cursed is the one who lies with any kind of animal.’ The people will say, ‘Amen!’
22 ‘Cursed is the one who lies with his sister, the daughter of his father or the daughter of his mother.’ The people will say, ‘Amen!’
23 ‘Cursed is the one who lies with his mother-in-law.’ The people will say, ‘Amen!’
24 ‘Cursed is the one who attacks his neighbor secretly.’ The people will say, ‘Amen!’
25 ‘Cursed is the one who takes a bribe to slay an innocent person.’ The people will say, ‘Amen!’
26 ‘Cursed is the one who does not confirm the words of this law.’ The people will say, ‘Amen!’
God’s names:
JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
Elohiym – Supreme God
Yeshuwa – Jesus
God’s character:
Holy
Do you wonder why your life is chaotic, why things never seem to go your way? People plan their lives from the moment they’re born. Parents set goals for their children, and their children do their best to live up to their expectations. Yet rarely do those goals succeed.
Moses told the people they were to write the laws on altars of stone they set up when they crossed the Jordan into the Promised Land. Mount Gerizim would receive JEHOVAH’S blessings and Mount Ebal, His curses.
When you read the curses pronounced by the tribes of Israel, you might think you’re not guilty of those things. Yet, if you look deep into the closet of your mind, you will see how guilty you are.
When you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, you confessed your sins to Elohiym. You asked Him to forgive you as you accepted Yeshuwa and committed your life to Him. Yet, many Christians continued in their sin. They believed the Law no longer applied to them because they live under grace. Grace only works when you truly repent of the sins you confessed when you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord. Grace doesn’t apply if your commitment isn’t real.
Confess your sins, commit your life to Yeshuwa and watch Him work His blessings in your life. What blessings does He promise you? You will see those blessings in the next chapter.
You don’t need to live a chaotic life. Commit your life today to Yeshuwa and watch Him turn your chaos into blessings.
Let’s pray: Father, I know I’m a sinner. Every day I sin against you in thought, word, and deed. I’m tired of living a chaotic life. Forgive me as I commit my life to You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Some of these large writing stones were apparently found in the ancient city of Byblos, in Lebanon.
God wanted his commandments written in stone, so that they would be clearly understood by all, I guess, without being changed slightly by different priests, over time.

@innertalks I could use some natural cold weather. The A/C doesn't do it for me. It's hot here.
It did, thank you. I hope you have a blessed day.

I hope that your day went well too.
