Hey, It Was KINDA Close, Right?

Hitting the lottery is one of those things that's, well, let's face it, nearly impossible. Yet, of course, some people do in fact win. It's fun to look at results from time to time and think, "Man, look how close I got." Even though the reality is that the result is still light years from being close. But it's fun to dream and think about it though, right? We can at least enjoy the fun of that since we'll never enjoy the fun of sitting counting all our loots of dough. I mean, look at this. Right on the money on 3. Only 1 away from 30. 3 away from 37. One number shy of 40. Only 5 away from 69. And lookie there. Only 3 away from 17 for the win kicker to take home the whole jackpot. Can you see it? Wasn't I close? lol

You may have been close but not close enough to win but keep trying you may just get lucky at some point.

One never knows. Like I always say, someone HAS to win. But you can only win if you have a ticket.

@2ndchances24 I guess the way I see it is, I can afford it and it is cheap entertainment.

Dang, you were so close with those numbers! You should at least get some kind of consolation prize!

@porwest Nah, I don’t think your request is unreasonable.

Is it too much to ask for that consolation prize to be $1 million?

It is essentially a complete waste of money with virtually no chance of ever winning. At the same time, I have NO chance at all if I don't have a ticket. So, I will gladly waste my money, I guess because you just never know.

@porwest Yep. If you never try, you've already lost.

@kaylachan That's it exactly. You cannot win for sure if you don't play.

It's a major bummer when you get all the numbers in the lottery, except they are not all in one game. At least you got one number correct. Too bad it wasn't the number in the red, which probably paid a buck.

@porwest Depending on how much you spent on the lotto at least it can cover one ticket. When I play the lotto or the scratch-offs if I don't win much I at least want to win enough to cover the money spent on the tickets. Doesn't always happen though.

I am trying to remember if this was the MegaMillions or the Powerball. Not sure. But the Mega pays $2 for just the megaball and Powerball pays $4.

@lovebuglena If I were to do the math, I would have a very strong inclination I have never won back near the amount I ever spent on tickets. But I will continue to play because you just never know when the big one might hit.

When I used to play the lottery Pick 3 or Pick 5 games I came close to winning a huge prize in the Pick 5 games but no major prize even though I did win a small amount of money in Pick 3.

@porwest I know what you mean since my goal playing lottery games is to win a huge amount of money to pay for my bills.

I've come close many times since 1989 when I started playing my numbers. Close doesn't count in the lottery and in horseshoes. Have a good day.

NO you were not close. You have to have all numbers right. Sometimes they pay with five numbers right.

How much did you spend on lottery tickets?

$2. Granted, I play all the "big" ones. The regular state Lotto, MegaMillions and Powerball. So, on average I probably spend about $16 a week. Lotto and Powerball draw three times a week and MegaMillions draws twice a week.

One thing I will never stop doing is playing the lottery even if it proves to be a fantastic waste of money. You just NEVER know. And like I always say, you CAN'T win if you don't have a ticket. So, I will always have a ticket.

Don't gamble but play for the fun of it. Before the draw I like to imagine winning and day dream about outrageous things I would do with the prize money. Surely those moments are worth the lunch money spend on the lotto?

Lottery is fun. I play it once in a while. When I was working full time, my co-workers and I played as a group occasionally. We planned to quit together if we won, just to give a surprise to the boss. Of course, that was joking, even if we won, we wouldn't quit immediately. lol.
