I think my cat is sick-- the sweetest mobile vet is coming to our house next week for a wellness checkup which includes quite a few things.

Good morning, Suddenly Onyx appears sick. he is eating way too much. he demands food every few hours and is too overweight. the the second to the last time the vet came to our house for my cat's shots she put him on a diet and the next time she came he actually lost a little weight. but then he started begging for food again plus he is very lethargic. he spends most of his day sleeping. But he does get up to play with a ball with a bell in it. he loves his toys. There are other things wrong but I won't go into them. His Vet is a mobile vet and will come to our house and take him in our bathroom (she says on her website that have dogs on a leash and cats in a carrier or a room like a bathroom as she doesn't want to have to chase our pets out from under the bed, That is exactly where my cat would be! The mobile vet will come on Tuesday, August 6 at 9 a.m. I am so worried about my kitty as he is my best friend ever. Have you taken your pet to the vet or had a mobile vet come to you lately? did I mention it is lucky my cat is a patient as she isn't taking new patients- she will accept some if they have a referral from an established patient. She is that good! I trust my kitty in her hands!

I hope the vet can help and he's not really sick.

thank you very much. I too am hoping that some of what I see as symptoms might really be normal cat things. Because Onyx is my first cat ever and I don't know half as much as the vet does

One of my cats was a bit poorly and very quiet. A visit to the vet and she is back to her normal, rascally, self!

@Ronrybs yes, my cat does that. Also, he was responsible for the vet charging me an EXTRA $35 for "dealing with an aggressive cat" according to my receipt! She insulted my cat!

That is awesome he comes right to your house! I think you just need to ignore his pleas and only give him food when he is supposed to have it. It sounds like he’s getting overweight and lazy because of it. I could be wrong though the vet will know what to do!

The mobile vet says Onyx should be on a diet or he will get diabetes. He is overweight and the vet says he could get diabetes. I am making him strictly follow the amount of food the vet said to give him, Now he only gets 1/3 cup of dry food all day and 1/4 th of a can of wet food daily. At first, he wasn't a happy camper but he seems to have settled into and accepted he is on a diet. I give him small amounts of dry food for his meal and he now knows that before bedtime between 6 p.m and 7 p.m., he can have as much of the dry food that is leftover from breakfast and lunch as he wants as it is technically his food. Believe it or not, he sometimes doesn't eat all of the 1/3 cup of dry food each meal and each day! What he doesn't eat I hold over until the next day. He is my good little boy even though the vet charged me $35 extra for "aggressive cat handling!" My kitty is very gentle!

@LovesEverybody oh wow sounds like the guy was a bit dramatic then if your cat was gentle and he made you pay extra for that

Nico demands food alot as well, but doesn't eat it that often. I hope the vet can get Onyx on the road to health. It sounds like you are going to have to learn to ignore his begging

Onyx eats most of it when I feed him. He will leave a few pieces sometimes. You are right that I have to ignore his begging, But I feel bad because what if he truly is starving? I am a soft-touch for him and he knows it However, a half hour ago I was having a snack and Onyx was begging for food, he just had his second breakfast and I refused to give him food as he had plenty this morning. he left the kitchen then so I should continue ignoring his begging unless it is meal time. I am hoping the vet makes Onyx nice and healthy

I overreacted to my kitty. The vet said he was fine. He got some shots and we should be good until the next rabies shot. there is one problem he needs a diet or he is sure to get diabetes and the vet told me I don't want to be the one to give him the shots he would require daily. She did charge me an extra $35 for handling an aggressive cat so I think she knows what it is like to give him shots. He is doing well on his diet. I give him 1/3 cup throughout the day of his dry food and divide a can of wet food up into 1/4 and give him one a day for dinner. Believe it or not, he doesn't always finish his meals of dry food breakfast, and Lunch. I don't give him his whole dry food as I like to give him some before bedtime

I have taken my cats to the vet when they needed it. How old is your cat? I hope it's nothing serious.

I hope Onyx is ok and that's he's just going through a hungry phase. Having a mobile vet is a big advantage. I've never had the opportunity to use a mobile vet but our local vet is just down the road and our dogs don't mind going there at all.
