It's all in your head???

I just finished replying to celticeagle's discussion about Something Kamala Harris said. It brought to mind what I had run into with the doctors about my problem with my stomach pain and nausea. The doctors would tell me that it was all in my head, like I was the biggest idiot looking for attention.
I'm going through the same thing again, getting passed from doctor to doctor. I was supposed to have an appointment with my Primary Physician the beginning of May. He called in sick the day I was supposed to see him. I was shuffled off to a phone appointment with a doctor 30 miles away. The appointment was made and 30 minutes later I was called and the appointment with that doctor was changed to a nurse practitioner-30 minutes later by phone. Okay, I noted that down and my visitor and I got to talking and 20 minutes later the phone rang again and I bet my visitor that it was going to be another reschedule. I was right, another reschedule and with someone that wasn't quite a nurse. The person couldn't prescribe medication. They couldn't even understand my problem. It was a great waste of time!!! My next appointment with my Primary Physician is August 9th. In the time that I haven't seen the doctor I have lost over 30 pounds and 3 pant's sizes.
I was sent down for a CT scan and was informed that there is a small lump in my stomach, but not enough to cause the problem. It seems like the nausea and other gastric problems are all in my head. Gee, I was doing wonderfully running my own bear making business, taking care of my apartment and more...now it's a chore getting out of bed. I'm waiting to hear from the Gastroenterologist for the appointment, and it's probably going to be in three or four months---that I'm a stupid old lady looking for attention and all the stomach problems are in her head.
Whatever you do, don't get old and don't let anyone know you have any medical issues, they'll end up being all in your head!!!

First of all calm down, take a deep breath, and virtual hugs, I have to admit I am one of the lucky, I see no doctors and take no meds, I am old but young at heart and I hope none of this ever changes, I walk with the Lord each and every day,

I have to admit that I look forward to your posts every day. You brighten my day ten fold, and that helps a lot. I too walk with the Lord, and do my best to help others. I just want to feel better and to be able to work on the bears and be able to give them to people who need their days brightened.
Virtual hugs back at you, and please, PLEASE make sure that you take care of you.

Some of the problems can be contributed to the excessive heat. Most people don't eat or drink as it is, and when it's hot, it's a lot harder. I am not saying there isn't something wrong, but not running your air because of the eletric bill could be playing a role in your health problems.
And, I'm no stranger to being ignored. I've developed the pratice of not saying anything, because I almost always know what a doctor might say.
I wish you the best of luck and hope you figure out what's wrong.

The one thing that I do during not only the hot weather but also during winter is drink plenty of fluids. I am kind of surprised at the fact that I am not eating all that much...but I went through the same thing in Thailand when I was there during the extreme heat. Although this is different because it has started before the horrible heat set in.
My electric bill wasn't that bad, although I didn't run my air conditioner that much. I just ran it when it got a bit too warm. I'll admit I'd hate to see my neighbor's electric bill, he ran his air conditioner all night every night for the past couple of weeks. I'm fairly sure he is going to have a $300 bill. I have had the fans going full blast and drinking iced tea and chilled water. It has helped a lot!
I decided that I am beyond NOT saying anything. They're getting paid well for their work (I call it indifference at times). I want to start feeling good again, and they're going to help get me back to feeling good whether they like it or not!!!

I am fortunate to have a good doctor. She listens. She saved Bob's life, I am sure, just making sure he was heard. Have they not offered or suggested an endoscopy for you?

I haven't had an endoscopy yet, I have to make the appointment with the Gastroenterologist first. I took some of my ginger tea and ginger tablets and they are starting to help some. I drink bottled water, as I said the city's water is awful (it stinks of chlorine) so I buy the bottled stuff for both me and the cats. Hopefully I'll get into the Gastroenterologist soon so maybe we can get this under some sort of control. The doctor I'll be going to will be a lady from what I gather. Here's hoping she's good.
I think they're kind of concerned about doing an endoscopy. I have had one before and they had a horrible time because I vomited like a volcano and they had a heck of a mess to clean up with both me and the exam room. I also think that they felt that the CT scan would do the job of the endoscopy. Of course I didn't go to a regular Gastroenterologist, so when I see this one it may be a totally different story. As I have said before I will keep my friends on the Lot informed.

I wish you could find a good doctor. They are still out there.

I'm hoping. I had a really good one, but he retired many years ago to go investigate the Catacombs. I hated to see him leave, he and I were really good friends and very close. But he was so dedicated to his work and he really needed time for himself.
I'm hoping that maybe one of the new ones I'm going to next month can help me out. At least the ginger meds I'm taking are helping out a LOT! I will keep my friends on the Lot informed.

For natural relief from nausea and stomach pain, try sipping ginger tea or peppermint tea. Both can soothe your stomach and ease discomfort. Staying hydrated and eating bland, easy-to-digest foods may also help. hope these help too me some doctors are useless i look up natural remedies because to me what the doctors is giving is poisonous too our body

I have been sipping ginger tea and also taking tablets called Rescue, which are ginger based and both have helped a lot. I try eating bland foods and at night when I lay down I get real relief. I drink bottled water because the tap water here is awful!!! When I looked at the apartment I turned on the water and it smelled like pure chlorine coming out of the faucet. I promised myself that if I took the apartment I wouldn't use the tap water for drinking or my tea. I haven't yet, nor do I use it for the cats either.
I am hoping that the doctors may help me some, I'm getting very tired of hurting all the time. I am trying bits of food here and there and avoiding anything spicy. I had some chicken thighs that I baked yesterday, I started to try to eat them and I was tapped on the shoulder. I looked and there was an orange face with yellow eyes...and a look of "Are you going to eat all of that???" I ended up sharing the chicken thighs with Petey my ginger tabby. I can't refuse him, he was a rescue. He was dumped out in the wild where I used to live and we adopted each other 5 years ago. He did let me have some of the thigh...but he enjoyed his share too.

Have you thought about going to a therapist? I don't mean that to sound negative. But, what if you told the therapist why you were there and then saw what the therapist came up with? Then have the therapist send a letter to your doctors letting them know it isn't all in your head. Maybe you could make some headway that way.
Also, as far as the stomach pain goes-- my father was misdiagnosed by the Veteran's Hospital until he was stage four with pancreatic cancer.

My Dr's knows that I don't call or see them unless it's
4-real, since they hardly ever see me as it is till I let
them know something isn't right, they know I don't
play games either, I've done had a run in with them a time
or 2 about my meds & whatever else I have going on.
