Kamala Harris Is The Democratic Nominee

August 2, 2024 9:13pm CST
Kamala Harris has secured the Democratic nomination for president of the United States. However, many contend that there was no primary where she received votes and that a primary of some sort should be conducted. Is there a procedure for this situation? What should be done when a president steps down from running so close to the convention and general election?

Wow. The Democrats really have no confidence in Joe Biden. I guess when a President steps down, the Vice President should automatically replace him?

When the president who is in office steps down the vice takes his place. But if he is running again what should occur if he drops out of the race. Does the Vice automatically take his place?

Despite the many achievements of the Biden presidency, election campaigns are base on perception and media projection. It was not because the Democrats have no confidence in Biden that he voluntarily decline the party's nomination and be replace by Kamala. It has proven to be a wise strategic move as later developments showed.

@josie_ I wonder if Biden will go down as one of the great presidents in American history. His "optics" were never great, but his accomplishments are pretty incredible

Not sure. But she will certainly get a lot of votes and is polling well. There's also the electoral college to contend with

Wow, that’s big news about Kamala Harris securing the nomination. It’s understandable why people are concerned about the lack of a primary. In situations where a candidate steps down close to the convention and election, typically, the party has contingency procedures.

That's right. Each party has their procedure and the delegates vote for the replacement in the dnc.

The Biden/Harris ticket won the nomination. Harris was on that ticket. Just look at the incredible fundraising numbers over the past couple of weeks. Democrats are just fine with Kamala being the nominee.

She talks to America like we are dumb children. I pray we don't have 4 years of this woman as president. We need to stop being the laughing joke of the world and get back to being a respected nation!
